While Colonel Richard Kemp, former commander of British forces in Afghanistan, also slammed the ban.

He told the Sun: 'There are obviously too many people in the RAF with too little to do if they have time to agonise over whether or not women should wear skirts in ceremonial uniform.'

I can see why they've done it. Sooner or later, one of the men will identify as a woman and insist on wearing a skirt on parade or claim he is being discriminated againt. I suppose they're just covering their backs.

Though I guess I don't really see why it would be an issue for men to wear skirts anyway tbh

A uniform is a uniform they should all wear the same regardless of gender in my opinion. Isn't that the point of a uniform? Variations of a uniform are silly.

My wife is on the PTA at the local school and said they are actively encouraging the girls to wear trousers rather than skirts.

I don't know, but as a woman I would prefer trousers. Those parade grounds can be cold and windy affairs.

It is... you've got to hand it to the tabloids, they give good headlines.
