Nicole Richie's court case is this month, and if there are any Nicole fans out there, please use this banner WHICH WAS NOT MADE BY ME.
Once we find a contact address, we should be making a e-card for her:thumbs:

And Chris I asked a HUGE Nicole fan if he knew an address for fans to send fanmail. He said the only thing he knew was the address for the block of apartments she lives in.

She was arrested for DUI (Driving Under the Influence). She pleaded not guilty so her court case is on the 30th to decide wether she's going to jail or not.
Look on the courtcase thread for info!

No. I will not support Nicole Richie. She was drunk driving.
Anyone who supports that should take some time to read Jacqui Saburido's life story and see if you still think it's ok to drink and drive just because you are a celebrity.
Read that, and then come back and post your opinion.

I'm sorry Sophie, I know you are a fan, but I can't and won't condone drunk driving.

I’ve never been a Paris/Nicole fan, but I haven’t hated them either and have also commended them if they did good stuff etc.
My take on this is, firstly to be honest I can’t see Nicole spending time in prison anyway – something or other will bail her out. And isn’t it something like 5 days if she does go in?
And OMG at that drink-driving story… I think it’s terrible and I wish her luck in what she’s doing to promote awareness. She was such a pretty girl as well. Drink driving is terrible.
lily.
04-04-2007, 10:13 PM
Yes it is Ash. And that's why I posted the link. It wasn't for shock-value. It's a story I read about a long time ago and I saw the girl on TV as well, telling her story, and it just brings home the reality of drunk-driving.
I don't hate Nicole Richie. I watched The Simple Life and enjoyed it. This isn't about Nicole. This is about the issue of drinking and driving. I'm not prepared to make light of it just because it's a celebrity. I would feel the same if it were my best friend doing it. It's wrong, and unacceptable.
I might sound harsh, but it's something I feel very strongly about and I wont support it.
If she did it then she wont get no support from me, anyone silly enough to drink drive deserves what they get.

ARGHHH some people are soo annoying. Iv'e been defending Nicole nearly all day about this and other stuff. I nearly got banned on another forum when this girl called Nicole a 'stick thin twatish rich junkie'. I went mad, and obviously argued back. This girl is a Hilary Duff fan and she was bringing up stuff about Nicole and Joel and calling Nicole a slag. I got soo annoyed. I ended up apologising to her in the end, and now she's starting it all over again! Grrrrr.. I'm just gonna ignore her!
FFS.. I'm just going to talk to Laura now! Iv'e done enough defending today!

I suppose a lot of people are similar though. I know I am. I defend celebrities I’m a fan of when it comes to issues, and try to see the good. Which is exactly what Chris and Sophie in particular have been doing… now with Nicole, previously with Danielle. It’s just one of those things. However this time, something far more serious/dangerous/life-threatening is involved and the story you posted Linda, whilst you didn’t intend it to necessarily, really worked in terms of shock-value. Whilst I may defend celebs when it comes to some issues, I really do doubt I’d defend a celeb I’m a fan of when it came to something like this. I’m trying to consider it now. A lot of the time it depends on the celeb, how big a fan you are, and perhaps I just don’t have a particular dominant one.

My view is:-
I'm not a fan of Paris/Nicole even though I don't hate them, and if they do something I may admire I’ll compliment them. However, I don’t agree with drink driving. And like I said earlier, Nicole probably has an amazing lawyer etc. battling her case for her, so she may not even go to prison, and if she did it wouldn’t be for long. But at the same time I’m trying to understand how Parcole fans are true fans and support them no matter what – and obviously that must be why they can continuously defend her.

I don't know why you said everyone's against her anyway Sophie - there’s like 3 supporting her, 3/4 saying they’re not… and I’ve just mixed the two because I’m trying to see it from your point of view as well, even though I don’t agree with drink driving.
And Linda - that's probably a good idea.
It's great that you're supportive of someone you like but my stance if someone I liked did get done for drink driving and proven guility then I really could not really stick up for them however much I might like them, if you do wrong you got to face upto things and drink driving is a dumb thing to do.I've not got anything against Nicole for the record.

Lock her up. There must have been a breathalyser and she must have failed it. The trial should be little more than a parade. The only thing that is relevant is how much she was over the limit.
I've just looked on Smoking Gun and she looks pretty toasted in her mug shot.

I dont know the facts- nobody does.

I get that you will support her 100% because you are a fan.
To be honest, supporting Nicole as a person is fine Chris. Supporting drink driving isn't. And, that's the only point I was trying to get across, because sometimes people think it's ok for celebs to do stuff like this. I'm glad to see that you don't.
And, it won't turn into an argument thread (even though I'm famous for arguing on TiBB). I'm not looking to spoil threads or fight with any of you. I said my opinion already. The only reason I mentioned the court case is because there was some debate about whether she was indeed guilty, and it remains to be seen if the court finds her guilty or innocent.
Hopefully she will learn her lesson this time, and then her fans will have no need to worry about her going to jail. :spin:

Now Chris. there is no need to stop supporting her but what people are trying to say is there is a difference in the support needed.
Nicole made a bad judgement the night she dicided to drive while off her t*ts. Anything could of happened, she could have hit someone. Has she actually made a statement in which she says she is sorry it was stupid and she is going to get help??? (thats a genuine question btw)

She pled no contest against a DUI charge around 4 years ago before she was arrested again in December.
"The law requires a mandatory sentence of five consecutive days in county jail as well as a one year license suspension for anyone twice-convicted of DUI. In addition, Richie would be ordered to attend an alcohol education program for a year-and-a-half, even if the second conviction is not alcohol-related."

In February 2003, Richie was arrested in Malibu, California and charged with possession of heroin. She was also driving with a suspended driver's license.
On December 11, 2006, Richie was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after she failed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving under the influence of drugs on California State Route 134 in the Burbank/Glendale, California area. Several motorists had reported a black Mercedes-Benz G-Class entering the freeway on the exit ramp and traveling in the wrong direction. She admitted to using marijuana and Vicodin before the incident

Right this is the score.. she could get sentenced for is 5 days and if found guilty she has got to serve that.
But i think it could be from 5 days to 90 days depending on what the court takes into account (i dont understand the way it is in america, do they have a jury and stuff??).
She might not get any jail time, just community service, suspended licence, and a fine.
Theres no doubt about it, she WILL get her licence suspended just because of how serious this was and shes had driving offences before.

I reiterate ""The law requires a mandatory sentence of five consecutive days in county jail as well as a one year license suspension for anyone twice-convicted of DUI" So it all depends on whether she is convicted of DUI or not.
But that's not the point.

I doubt she will got to jail, if she did it wont be more than 5 days.

Jeez.. I go away for a wee while and all hell breaks loose.
Ok, firstly. Nicole Richie broke the law and will have to face the consequences of her actions.
Secondly, fans really ought not to take all this so personally. For a start, she's a celebrity, and whilst you might well be her #1 fan, you are bordering on obsessive if you are allowing her life to depress you. Also, taking things seriously on the internet.. really? Come on, I would have thought you would have known better than that by now, and if you don't then frankly you shouldn't be online.
And, thirdly, in response to Sophie's remark about not knowing much about drinking and driving, I refer you back to the first link I posted in this thread. Have a wee read at that love, and then see if you think that there's "no harm done".

The whole point of this thread was about supporting Nicole Soph, and we all kept it in the correct context, just questioned it. You have basically now said you don't want to listen to anybodys opinion other than your own if you don't agree with it. What's the point of being on a forum then? We were having, what I thought, was an interesting conversation.

Just because a thread has been made to support her doesnt mean that some people cant question why.
It's all getting a bit to personal but people dont take offense. She is a celeb, she is an adult I am sure she has come under worse fire than this. After all wasnt she caught in possession of heroin???? She aint so innocent or angelic. I am sure she can handle herself

Hmm maybe. They wouldn't have it in Austrailia would they? No actually they won't becuase it's under US law!
I need to ask Andy. (hugeee Nicole fan)
Why the frick should anyone support someone who was drinking and driving? If it was someone who you didn't like who had been done for DUI, would you want to support them? She committed a crime - a crime that kills people - why should she get special treatment?

from TMZ: "Nicole Richie admitted she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot."
Wikipedia says: Vicondin - Vicodin's effects of disorientation, relaxation, and euphoria have been tampered with by mixing them with other drugs, but the most common method has been by mixing them with alcohol. Combined, the drunken effects of alcohol are heightened and brought upon faster.
Plus if she admited to smoking pot, thats a drug and if you smoke and drive you are under the influence

^^Blimey!!! Not another one.^^
To answer an earlier question - She has already failed a breath test so, her not turining up for court probalby means she pleaded no contest. The only thing to consider is the size of her sentence. Personally, I hope she's sent to pirson, a spell inside might straighten her out.
I can't believe people are supporting a drink driver. Of course we know that she was drinking, although she will no doubt try to wriggle out of it because she thinks she should be treated differently to the rest of us.
You want to know why I'm not going to support the spoilt little bitch? Because last year, the wife of a friend of mine was killed by a drink driver. There's one good reason for you. My friend now has to face life without the woman he has lived with and loved for 15 years. Her two young boys will have to grow up without a mother. She will never see her sons leave school, get a job, bring their first girlfriend home, get married etc. Because a drunk driver took all that away.
I'd love to see Nicole get sent down for a while, and have to remove her head from her backside. She thinks The Simple Life was hard work?! Pffft. She's a brat, plain and simple. Oh, and as I asked previously, if anyone can tell me exactly what it is that she does to deserve all this fame and adoration, I'd love to hear it.

Oh Ruth thats so sad. It makes me so mad when I hear about people who drink drive. They have that choice, not to step into their car and they take the quick and simple option, but thats just not the case. Nicole could have killed someone..... would all her loving supporters follow her then??? Hmmmmmm
I think its disugsting how she can and will get away with this. So I am sorry but I agree with Ruth, maybe a little time in jail will make her see the real world!

Nothing, she got the simple life because she was best mates with Paris. She hasnt had to do a hard days work in her over pampered life.
Maybe if she had to cope without her daddies creditcards while filming tsl she might appriciate what the worth of money is

Ruth that is so sad - I am so sorry you lost a dear friend in such terrible circumstances.
These are the kind of consequences that there are to drink driving or driving under the influence of any mind altering substance. I truly believe in zero tolerance as so many lives can be affected by one silly decision.
I can understand why people might like them as celebs but I can not understand why people would want to support them through a situation like this one!

I can not condone anyone who drinks and drives. Its totally irrisponsible. Ok.... so some of you might say she hasnt been proven to be doing that yet but she has admitted to taking Vicodin and to have smoked pot. Both are drugs.
Driving the wrong way down a busy road??? Please..... why cant some people see that this sort of behaviour is out of order?

I am sure that the supporters realise the dangers of what she did, but I still dont get it.

Its distugsting behaviour.

If only some of her fans could do that. It's an interesting question actually. Perhaps one of her fans could answer it - Why do you support someone who is basically no good? Let's examine the evidence. She's got no talent, is rude an obnoxious and appears to have no redeeming qualities. Why all the fuss and all the support? Are you condoning her behaviour?

This is the appeal hearing I take it.
For he fans I wish her well and hope that a compromise can be found so she pays the price for what she has done but can avoid being hurt in the prison or going to prison.
I think they should have her sweeping the streets or something or may be removing gum from pavements for a couple of months.
