US President George H.W. Bush once famously warned against “voodoo economics.” Today, we face a form of voodoo politics: rule based on “alternative facts” and unfounded and untestable theories that cast their own kind of spell on citizens struggling to comprehend a globalized world and economy from they feel alienated.

I dont think, I know. They did it the time before as well. The only decent left wing party were 50 odd years ago...since then they are simply a revolting party consumed with envy, lies, spin , mind numbingly stupid self defeating policies and self interest. All thats left of the wreckage is a hotch potch of war mongers, deluded anti business people, bitter envious types hell bent on regulating small businesses out of existence and sneaky tactics hitting the working classes with stealth taxes again just to appease the upper classes in order to reclaim power one day. they have no beliefs no backbone , their debates are those of spoilt children and at best those of a 6th form college debate. no real politik, everything is 2 dimensional over simplified politically correct twaddle that would have left us worse off than greece if these clowns had another term....they are finished as a political force

By "the left" I can only assume you mean Blair/Brown's slightly right of centre labour government. As they were in power at the time..
You are constantly making statements that suggest Labour = left. You're just... Wrong. Not as in "opinion", you are factually incorrect, New Labour was not left leaning. It's just the economic facts.

The Financial Crisis of 2007/8 started off in the US during Bush's Republican administration. To claim it's the fault of the Left is just factually wrong but then again The Truth's never been a fan of facts.

You're not supposed to mention that it was a global recession and, if you do, you still have to say it was Labour's fault. This is of course a realistic possibility because Britain is very, very, very, very important. It has all the best Wallaces and at least 90% of the best Gromits.

Ah, I thought you might mention Greece! If you understood anything about why Greece failed and why the UK couldn't fail like Greece, I think you'd be a tad embarrassed about such a comment.

If you really want to try to drag me Cherie you'll need to do more than repeat what I said out of context.
Repeating what I said at me makes no sense, I said it as a response to The Truth who blamed the left/labour for the financial crisis although it was a crisis that began in the US under a republican administration thus making him ignorant for carrying on about a subject that he obviously doesn't know much about.

Brown didn’t sell the gold because he was some greedy fcuk who’s government had singularly overspent. He sold the gold to bail out the world bank crisis. He also sold the gold for a low price. To understand why he did this you have to read and understand this http://www.zerohedge.com/contributed/2012-07-10/gordon-brown-sold-britain%E2%80%99s-gold-artificially-low-prices-bail-out-large-ameri
Remember the great recession? It wasn’t caused by the Labour government, it was caused by a world banking shortage. It was caused by the western world using ‘bad loans’ for an entire decade; it was caused by a single currency in Europe; it was caused by the US housing bubble burst and it was caused by big cat profiteering. When America fell, we all followed like dominoes and Browns bank bailout was a last-ditch attempt to stop our economy falling to its knees.
The gold reserve (half, not all the gold reserve was sold) was for such an event as what happened in the big crash. Intrinsically, gold has a low growth yield and so to the western world, its not a good tangible asset. Lending money into the economy has a far better growth yield and so bailing out banks who then bail out the economy is a way to recovery.
The Neolibs have always blamed Labour for selling off our gold asset but nobody, including them could of remained bullion fanatics when the **** hits the fan.

Those are all the signs of a wealthy country. Every country in the Western world, including America, wrongly believed the bubble would never burst. You are surely not suggesting the Tories would of done things differently. It was Neoliberalism that fired the starting pistol on those frivolous times and Blair was just another Neoliberal leader.

Agreed, except neoliberalism is a cancer that kills off those struggling. It's at best Darwinian and at worst democide.

lol Still trying to defend the indefensible
The ONLY thing labour did get right under brown was the idea to grow your way out of a recession, but of course they failed hopelessly to apply the theory in practice , due to their enslavement to the unions still, or rather the block vote. they clearly couldnt give a damn about the state of the industries ....they failed in every single aspect of governance...bar allowing same sex marriage. a pathetic sum total for 10 years of self destruction

Why ever would I try and defend Blair and Brown? I'm just putting some facts straight because I get sick of hearing nonsense about the gold reserve. When Blair was our PM I was a firm Lib Dem supporter. I used every excuse to slate the NL but what I didn't do was use trumped up conspiracy theories that were being bled out to a somewhat naive British public by the Tories.
