Ok.... I feel a little guilty for slating Nicole Richie in her 'suppost' thread so I thought I would start one about the way celebs think they can behave.

Nicole isnt the only one who thinks she is immune; Pete Doherty, Kate Moss, George Michael, O J Simpson..... the list goes on.

So why do they persistently get away with it?

As far as I can see there money, fame and power seems to make a difference in wherther they get a fair trial

Good thread Kiz.

The thing is many of their fans actually want them to get away with crimes. Personally, I don't understand it.

As far as I can see..... a fan, and yes I have been there in the past, is blind to the fact that they may be bad.

For me, I was a massive George Michael fan, when he got caught with his trousers down in Central Park I though 'silly fool'. But I never defended what he did. It was wrong, simple as that. The fact that he still thinks he can drive while drunk, high or both is just plain stupid! But yet he gets away with it

I like the new trend coming about of community service. A la Boy George & Naomi Campbell style. They think they can get away with more than the average Jo. I don't agree with making them clean the streets etc (Boy George) as this just creates a media circus and is majorly embarassing for them.

Im sure this is referring to me and Soph, I have repeated myself many times in the other thread, and Im only saying it once in this thread.

I do not think that Nicole, or any celebrities behaviour, is acceptable.
And its no different to a normal person committing the crime.

I think Kiz is just posting another thread as we brought up other issues in the Nicole one that pose other questions.

Ok peeps..... lets calm down a little. This in NOT a personal attack. I am generally bewildered with the lack of respect for the law that some celebs have.... I dont want my thread closed please

Yeah I know, but when Girth said his thing about fans, Im sure none of that would have been said without my thread about Nicole.
Its triggered it off.

Anyway I REEEALLY don't want to argue lol.
I think its a good thread idea.

But personally no, I don't think celebs can do what they like.
If anything this makes them more normal.

They are normal, but are they treated as such when they get their day in court?

Ok, I am going to bring up Pete Doherty,he is frequently in the news for his problematic lifestyle and drug habits. He has been arrested many times, usually for drug possession, and sometimes for other offenses arising from drug misuse, such as driving under the influence and driving with suspended driving license.

Yet still he hasnt be put away...... it doesnt make sense

No it doesn't Kiz. He's a junkie waster and should be jailed. And so is his bitch.

Any average member of the public would have had the book thrown at them by now.

You are right there about Pete. I think something should be done with him, because everytime he says hes back to normal he does something again.
Im sure someone would say 'oh the same happened with Nicole' but it didnt. She went years without doing it, and then around the time she had her eating disorder, she was back in the media for doing it.

I can't remember a time Pete Doherty hasnt been doing drugs etc

I think a lot of Celebs feel that they can do what they like and can get away with it. I think its totally unfair how in court celebs just get a slap on the wrist, where as if it was a working class person they could get more ten slap and end up getting a high fine or even inprisonment.

Hopefully Pete Doherty will get some bad gear and then we wont have to read any more about him.

I agree with you on that one Chris, Pete's busts have been way out of control but he always does it again and again.

Nicole isnt innocent but its a different kettle of fish.... hers is a drink driving charge and I dont condone that... I'm sorry but its my belief that if you are caught doing that you shouldnt be able drive again!

Yeah I guess taking away Nicole's license is a pretty fitted thing to do.
As a fan I dont want her to go to prison, but that doesnt mean she shouldnt be punished, if found guilty.

At the end of the day it's up tp the courts to decide in Nicoles case. But do you think Chris that celebs get away with too much?

In some cases yes I do.
Like Pete Doherty, he definately has got away with a lot.

I think that they get away with far too much. Kate Moss was caught snorting nose candy and what happened???

Nothing..... if that was you or I you can bet your bottom dollar that we wouldnt be let go with a talking to and a charge

Celebs do get awa with things far too easily and it isn't fair at all.

However if a celeb I was a massive fan of did something bad I would support them 100%.Kiz you're right about fans being blind and I can understand it,I'm the same although none of my celebs have ever actually done anything wrong so I don't know how I would react,I have a feeling I would support them though, its like a fan duty or something.

Three strike rule is for felonys.

A third felony conviction is a mandatory life sentence without parole
