The PM said today that he was known to them and was investigated a few years ago for extremism but was a peripheral figure and was not currently on the radar. Obviously they are investigating and don't want to let too much out until they think they have his mates.

It does make you wonder if we are too soft on extremism in the UK, even peripheral extremism.

My heart goes out to those frightened and hurt and to those who have lost or have an injured loved one. I'm very thankful for the swift response of our security and ambulance services.

seconded Jaxie, the response was swift and well planned, a mention too to the nurses and medical staff who ran from nearby St Thomas's to help the injured on the Bridge, and the members of the public who helped, very courageous, also I'm really thankful we have armed officers on duty, its a shame the fallen officer wasn't armed he might be alive now, I understand he wasn't wearing a stab proof vest either although I am not sure this has been confirmed but if he wasn't this was a mistake given the public nature of the area he was on duty.

They have some reason to do so given that they are the driving force behind radicalisation across the world. He might be a lone attacker but the chances are he was talking to their members, hearing their speeches, watching their videos, reading their journals and following their advice

Not every single attack has had something to do with them though. Yes he's probably heard their speeches but the likelihood is that they had absolutely nothing to do with it physically and that he was just a deranged copy cat killer. I can't help but think that if ISIS were fully behind it, then a lot more people would be dead because of yesterday.

I'd say the majority of recent ones do, they seem to pretty much control the extremist community online which is how most people seem to be radicalised now and where they are encouraged to take part in attacks. IS like lone wolf attacks because of how easy they are to organise and pull off without it being a large scale operation on their part

It’s a load of nonsense. I’m part French and both my French family and French friends have asked if I’m concerned about the Muslim no go areas in cities like Birmingham and London. It was a U.S commentator who started this nonsense and its been growing ever since. Apparently, according to the French tabloids, both London and Birmingham have Muslim police patrolling those forbidden streets beating women who dare to venture out alone. Whilst the whole thing annoys me, when I ask them the same about Paris and Marseille, they think its highly amusing.

I’m not saying there aren’t tough isolated Muslim areas here in London or over in Paris but its been like that for as long as I can remember. Parts of Marseille and Paris have very high crime rates from the Algerian population but French Algerians have suffered massive discrimination for decades and have equally been protesting for decades. For generations there have been dodgy neighbourhoods in all these cities, not because they are radical Muslims but because they are gang style criminals. Both France and the UK have banned sharia-governed zones.

The only no go zones we have in the UK are gypsy camps. France doesn’t have that problem but the French police are a lot more heavy handed than its British cousins
