I sometimes think social media is a curse but I also like to know what is going on in the world and through social media we hear about things we wouldn't normally hear about. God knows why I want to know what is going on in the world because it's a horrible world we live in now. A reason for me to like social media is that we find things out before the government has a chance to hide what they don't want us to know. I think in the not too distant future the government will control social media too,

Yes. Neither Brexit nor Trump would have happened without social media. The home of fake news and alternative facts.

We are living in a 'post truth' society and its not just through social media but through the national tabloids as well. I think most of us are able to separate truth from bull**** and for those of us who have a real interest in politics, both here and abroad, social media allows us information that the national papers hide from us. Social media has certainly given me insight into a lot of information I wouldn't otherwise of been privy to. Wikileaks wouldn't of happened without social media and neither would all the info we have had from Snowden.

I know that a lot of social media doesn't reflect reality and that platforms like Twitter is full of bots who put up 'fake news nonsense' but a lot of social media channels give us a better and deeper understanding behind the news our governments constantly feed us.
