Has modern media got so bad that people would sooner listen to comedians?

Great vid, the journalists have their hands tied due to corporate affiliations to political ideologies. But comedians can go all out and yes they do make matter of fact, common sense sound hilarious because it's been so lacking of late.
We are effectively living in an alternative universe where lies are touted as fact, world leaders tweet random insults about other world leaders... it's madness.
Which is why it's not possible to make satirical comedy about the discussions in parliament, because more people will have their eyes opened to the pantomime that it is.
'Since regular broadcasting from Parliament began in 1989 footage has only been provided to broadcasters on the condition that it is not used in satirical programmes.'

Thats hilarious! I had no idea! Wonder if Trump will ever put forward a similar ban or if he secretly loves it.

I totally agree with the ban on using footage from Parliament in satirical programmes. The footage can be used in news programmes and the like and that's where it belongs. There's a fine line between satire and ridicule, depending on which side of the fence you're on, and some people would be duty bound to cross that line.

If someone says something ridiculous anywhere else they would be held up for ridicule/satire... why do MPs need to be coddled?

the comedy is all pro liberal due to political correctness. tedious , spineless, predictable liberal nonsense

I think a good question is, does satire help the politician? Farage was also mocked endlessly (for obvious reasons) before the election and came out with the 3rd highest votes overall
(Although I suppose a lot of voters not knowing how constituency voting works helped that cause too)

I think comics would write about left wing politicians if there was ever one as daft as Trump  You cant really declare the political affiliation of every comic ever that easily, they're simply talking about the most absurd thing they can think of, which happens to be a right wing politician.

Most people over the entire world are saying the same thing.
Even most Trump fans know hes at least very ridiculous most of the time.
Going offtopic a bit though, would you prefer to see more truth in your news, or comtinue to see a debate from both sides irregardless of how obvious the rational conclusion may be?

Satire is vital when it comes to politics, especially someone like Trump who is going after anything and anyone that doesn't buy his bull****.
If a politician lies frequently and in such an extreme manner then they should be ridiculed.

You just cant compare their absurdity to the level of Trumps in any world. If a left wing politician exists to be as daft as Trump or Farge etc, they will be ruthlessly battered by comedians, and it should be hilarious for right and left wing people alike.

It's isn't just politicians you don't like who would be ridiculed. It's likely to be politicians you do like. And then it'll be spiteful and untrue.
Satire is great... but it shouldn't include footage from parliament. If it's funny enough, it'll be ridiculed on The News. And you don't need actual footage to ridicule politicians on satirical shows.

 Why not? What makes it so sacred? Genuine question here: I honestly can't comprehend why it should be exempt from ridicule, if what is happening is ridiculous? Why would doing so be damaging?

Is this you preempting a response?
If it's there for all to see in parliament how could anyone say it was untrue?
The whole point of the thread is that things are reported on as satire that are not on the news.. therefore your theory falls flat there.

There's a reason why most comedians are left wing, and it's because right wing comedy isn't funny, as demonstrated here in one of my favourite ever routines:
