But incase you hadn't caught on.The guy in the video is a comedian. He uses humour in with genuine points to get his message accross.
You have use a little common sense to seperate the humour from the serious message he's putting forward.

Do you have any input on the topic?
My only input really is that I think this guy is taking these hyper-PC people a lot more seriously than the average person, and thats his issue. Hes just another angry voice. I cant imagine the average self-proclaimed PC person would use these terminologies, him believing that they do just seems naive on his part.

I didn't catch on because he isn't funny.
He's yet another entitled arsehole who wants to be able to refer to anyone as whatever he wants to and is butt-hurt that he "isn't allowed to" spout his ignorance freely any more, so now he's whiiiinnneeeiiiinnnggg about it. Whining like a li'l bitch. And trying to mask that under a facade of bitter, jaded, joyless "humor" like so many of his ilk. Sad.

I think he has a point. There are people who want to police language in this way and other people who are so scared they're going to offend people that they adhere to this rubbish.
People should be free to use language how they like and let experience, conscience and common sense dictate how they use language in future.
Not have people try to tell you what you're allowed to say.
You might inadvertently say something that offends somebody and then think 'oh ****,I won't say that to them again' but you've learned from your mistake.
On the other hand the next guy might not be offended and possibly be more offended by you pussy footing round them thinking of stupid long winded phrases to say. Thus treating them differently.
Policing language is really only one step away from policing thought. It shouldn't be a thing in a free democratic society.
It's not too dis-similar to blasphemy laws in middle eastern countries.
There's something going on in Canada at the moment with a new bill to amend the human rights act for transgenders.Basically if you disagree that terms like 'non binary' or 'gender fluid' are real then you can get in trouble for hate crime or if you don't use 'gender pronouns' like 'ze' or 'zir' instead of he or she then you could land in trouble.
A law forcing people to use certain words is dictatorial. This is what happens when political correctness goes too far.
And thanks

But even in this thread alone, you've policed your own language? And I'm presuming you'd be a bit taken aback if you heard somebody use language that you wouldnt personally use because of the lines and boundaries that you have set yourself?
Seems like there is just more of a common sense approach to language instead of a PC culture that dictates language to me. And this is evident because non-PC people also reframe from some words to avoid insulting others.
Culture will change, and language will adapt, and I dont think this has anything to do with political correctness, its just that all people (PC, non-PC, and everyone inbetween) wants to avoid insulting others where they can.

Severe appearance deficit instead of ugly - yes real common sense that.
PC is for control freaks and/or lap dogs who can't think for themselves and need 'encouragement' to think the 'right' way according to those who have nothing better to do but come up with ridiculous 'replacement' names for perfectly reasonable ones. There were some awful words used in the past such as mongols, cretins and spastics and the use of such words was phased out, and rightly so, but handicapped and many others used today are perfectly reasonable words.
Of course people shouldn't be able to just blatantly offend people with the use of offensive words but the replacement of perfectly acceptable words such as handicapped for physically defective is sheer stupidity. Defective is a horrible word - I would rather be called physically handicapped, if disabled, than physically defective. Another word increasingly being used is 'challenged' i.e. Physically challenged which I would put on a par with 'incapable' or 'useless' which personally I find much more offensive. Each to their own but the point being the words being 'replaced' are not offensive words - just some trying to exert their opinion over others by the use of dubious methods.
People have to challenge such nonsense just as PC attempts to challenge the establishment - we can't have one rule for one and another for another can we.

I agree with everything I've left. These were basically my points throughout the thread. Nobody is taking these hyper-PC people seriously apart from the bloke in the video, and perhaps you. Severe appearance deficit seems like a joke haha. It isnt common sense to call ugly people 'severe appearance deficit' which is why the phrase never coined on, I believe the speech is a few decades old.
And yes nobody wants to blatantly offend. PC people dont want to offend, non-PC people dont want to offend, everybody inbetween do not want to offend, you just repeated my point. It is because of this that language cant be due to PC culture, language is just common sense.
You too are policing language, and you're not PC? So this entire thread is getting a bit silly. You've even made suggestions on words that other people shouldnt use, I have a feeling the bloke in the video would label you as PC, but you're not, language has nothing to do with political correctness.
if you believe as a non-PC person that there are horrible and offensive words, its because there is a common sense approach to language. it doesn't make you PC to find it offensive when people call certain groups certain words, it is just common sense not to call them it.

I've always considered political correctness to just be people not wanting to cause offence, how that manifests itself will be different in different people, so some will find 'appearance deficit' less offensive than 'ugly' and some will find 'disabled' less offensive than 'spastic' etc, it's all political correctness, and which terms catch on is just down to general consensus, and common sense like Withano said. PC is just the thing that allows that dialogue to happen and that consensus to be reached, and anyone who's ever considered one particular word less offensive than another has adhered to it. Yes some people will have extreme ideas, and some people will try and force their opinions on others as to what terms should be used, but that's not down to political correctness itself, it's because some people are just like that, and that's the case for every side of everything  so those people and extreme examples aren't representative of what PC generally is (taking the extreme of anything and representing it as the norm is a bizarre approach imo).

PC is a recent construct designed specifically to denigrate anyone with a question that people find difficult to answer, or a response to a statement in a meaningful way.

The man's a jerk. Does he honestly believe children with learning disabilities should be told they are "slow"?
The reasons we don't use word like "slow, ******, idiot dumb" is because society uses those words to insult anyone they don't like. Its the same with words like "imbecile" and " moron".
Cripple and spastic are just very outdated words but spastic in particular was used to insult perfectly able bodied people.
I think it gets silly when some medical professionals insist a Down Syndrome person is described as a none neurotypical person or a disabled person described as a vertically challenged person but I do think words like "learning disability" open up a wider scope of what that condition could be. People with learning disabilities are as broad as they are wide and a lot of people with LD are very gifted in certain areas, especially Autistic people, so its unfair and unnecessary to call such people slow.

Political correctness mainly exists, not to "police" how others may define terms but to limit the implied bigotry, intolerance and ignorance in using words that at best offend and at worst, discriminate. We may have free speech but if we don't excercise respect for others while using it; then like children we must be told what is innapropriate language to use. I am old enough to remember a time when it was allowed to use words of hate and intolerance and I do not want to return to those times.

Unfortunately political correctness is perverted often to falsely accuse others of racism or sexism. These slanderous and false accusations should be treated as serious crimes too. To even up the balance and get back to the real arguments and the facts of the matter. PC tends to overly protect some groups and leaves the obvious white male as the only beast in the room that everyone can slander
