View Full Version : Eight to ten million migrants are still on the way

According to the Gatestone Institute International Policy Council 8-10 million migrants from Africa, Asia and the Middle East are still on the way to Europe, most of which are economic migrants looking for a better life.
The Director of the European Council, Michael Moller, has warned that Europe must prepare for this. As the EU has called on its member states to lift border controls, within the next six months, the return to open borders, which would allow for passport-free travel across the EU would also allow jihadists to cross European borders undetected to carry out attacks when and where they wish.
Interested to know how people feel about this. For me it is a very worrying situation. Apparently most of these migrants are economic migrants, not refugees, so I am not clear why we would be opening our borders to them.
Marsh.

It's crazy and it's not going to stop unless Europe makes a firm stand. These people need to be deterred.
Thank feck we're getting out of the EU.When all these people end up with bergundy passports in the next few years you know exactly where they're headed. The benefits capital of Europe.Good old blighty.

According to Amnesty, its 86% of all refugees are being hosted by Middle Eastern, African and South Asian countries. Their figure for refugees with urgent need are 1.5 million. These include torture survivors and people with severe medical problems.

I'm not opposed to migration at all, a member of my family is in love with someone from another country and hopes they will be able to live here eventually, but I do believe there ought to be some controls over a countries borders and I think the system should be equal. At the moment the balance is very unequal in favour of the EU.

The Gatestone Institute (formerly Stonegate Institute and Hudson New York) is a right-wing think tank whose website publishes articles with a mainly conservative perspective on policy issues, particularly those involving the Middle East.
Gatestone has been criticized for publishing inaccurate articles.
Is any other publisher expecting similar numbers? I don't trust the websites authenticity (and you shouldn't either)

I don't know - but judging by the numbers seen recently it may not be far off the mark. Could be more.
Besides if EU countries have to remove border controls, with no passports required, is anyone naive enough to think we won't get a lot more jihadists come in and pose an ever increasing risk to all of us with more terrorist attacks. I really cannot understand this incredibly naive mindset.

The removing of border controls is legit according to the FT.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.ft.com/content/0f96d0f2-2f4c-11e7-9555-23ef563ecf9a
European countries must lift border controls introduced at the height of the EU’s refugee crisis within six months, the European Commission has warned.
The demand by Brussels means member states such as Germany, Austria, Denmark and Sweden must end systematic checks of people entering their territories, in an attempt to get the EU’s passport-free Schengen area functioning properly again.
Insanity imo.
Slackening security is not a shrewd move in the current situation.

People from Africa, Asia and the Middle East who are non- Europeans, and don't have refugee status, therefore don't meet the criteria. We have no obligation to let them stay.
The EU can't dictate we let them in.

Yes I imagine the influx of ten million immigrants to the UK is rather worrying... for the idiots who actually believe the hysterical nonsense that there is an influx of 10 million immigrants headed for the UK at this very moment. All sorts of imaginary things can be quite terrifying if you let your mind run wild.

As with Farage's deceitful poster during the referendum too.

Sorry but that isn't correct. I have been blatantly called a racist and have had it implied for expressing concerns regarding mass immigration, as have many others. From memory I believe you were one of those.
It's pretty obvious that by far the majority of people who have these concerns do so out of concern for their own and their families futures in this country. But in most 'discussions' on this subject most of these type of allegations, in one form or another, get chucked about by those who feel differently - as you well know!

As I said most people have such concerns out of concern for their family's future, as do I, so therefore such comments are directed at me due to such concerns.
Why is it necessary to state the obvious all the time with you.

Thank you. I was quite obviously being facetious since the alleged 'influx' were all coming from Africa, Asia and the Middle East. I should've realised that kind of thing doesn't cut through on here though
Well it's not funny.

What are you implying here and who is it aimed at? If you are going to imply racism, out with it, don't hold back.
With everything I forgot that one - seems such insinuations are a lot more recent than either myself or Withano took on board. So much for him not having seen such comments/implications for 'ages'.

I think you need a read back, Joey, after a bit of a chill. Cherie is one of the least nasty and most level headed posters in debates.
Really,and so am I.
I have also closed it down so no.need for you to open all up again.

Those kinds of comments are dropped on this forum all the time and then passed off as jokes. It's really not good enough. At least the rest of us manage to rise above it.

Indeed - a person's true words are often masked with 'humour'. Cop out.

To you maybe, but I've had this response from you before and as I pointed out then, humour is subjective. I don't and am not about to vet every post of mine by pondering 'will jaxie find this funny?'
If you or others don't detect the satire in such a remark, that's not my problem.

Obviously I didnt include obvious jokes into that, or else this from yesterday would have counted too
Racist :hehe:
Think your issue is not being able to differentiate between jokes, insults, and genuine causes of concern.

Fine,I will be extra careful to now avoid your nastiness and avoid your posts directly or indirectly in future.
That's not really fair.I have never once seen Cherie be nasty to anyone on here. She is one of the most calm and measured posters in here.

Thanks but don't get involved Kizzy, you have enough to contend with at times.
I closed the issue down, others I think would be better advised discussing the thread topic rather than opening things up again and carrying it on.
Just don't please invite bother for yourself on my behalf.

I know and if someone accused him of nastiness when he wasn't then i'd say the same.
My point is that it's not really a measured response to her post.An unfair accusation imo.

So you're like, pemanently going to be upset on tibb because somebody might have called your post racist like a year ago? Seems very childish. I would love to suggest moving on, but I feel like you dont want to. Childish. Especially considering the amount of times youve thrown the sexist card around. Childish and hypocritical.
You're really getting on my tits,go and have a cuppa and chill, people are allowed different opinions to you.(the buttons bottom left)

Well, you made me smile with that first sentence
But actually in this thread, and in most others, (if you care to look through), Brillo enagages in a conversation with me by quoting my post, and I am gracious enough to reply.
I was completely prepared to ignore her opinions until she started quoting me in them, I usually reply to quotes unless I have nothing to add to them. Sorry about that?

You don't need to ignore people though do you? that's what the forum is for, it just seemed you were a tad insulting and having a go,maybe I read it wrong,I felt a bit sorry for her,but no hard feelings here:wavey:

I thought i'd taken a wrong turn for a second and accidentally fallen into the English Defence League forum with such a sensational and divisive thread title!
Any website that would report this kind of thing obviously has an ulterior motive. They love these kind of fuel the fire 'facts' (and i use that word very loosely). Impossible to check on and by the time it hasn't actually happened it doesn't matter to them that it wasn't true because it had the desired effect and the required damage has been done.
Similar effect to throwing a banger into a barn full of blindfolded cows.

Nothing to do with the EDL, just the situation in Europe today. All the predictable name-calling won't change that. Just makes people take such comments with a pinch of salt. Playground nonsense.
Has anybody on tibb even called anybody a racist, like, recently? I feel like people must be using their personal experiences as a reason to abuse tibb members
I have been called racist 3-4 times in my time on tibb...

I'd really struggle to call somebody a racist based on posts they make on a forum, theres no way to prove that
I have however seen racist individual posts (not from you) and I think its important to call out racist posts when a person sees them.. but thats all they should do - call out a post, and not a person
But then again, I have seen less racist posts and less 'you're racist' allegations recently, it used to be semi-regular but maybe tibbs moved past that phase and both sides have reached a natural line

Me too. Things seem to have calmed on here slightly, or is that just my perception?
