One of the most horrifying cases of sexual abuse in modern British history, made more so by bureaucratic incompetence and wilful ignorance, the Rochdale child exploitation scandal opened the floodgates to a litany of stories of young, vulnerable people being systematically preyed upon by trusted older men, with those in a position to stop it turning a blind eye.

Now the minds behind the acclaimed true-life stories The Big C and Five Daughters have turned the Rochdale scandal into its own three-part drama series Three Girls, with Maxine Peake and Lesley Sharpe amongst an all-star cast bringing the saga to television.

Three Girls airs on BBC1 on Tuesday, May 16, for three consecutive nights and tells the story of three vulnerable girls who were plied with drink sexually abused by a gang of men in Rochdale for up to four years.

It's weird how the police officers are now manipulating and using the vulnerable girls to get their own way.

God knows what's actually happened in my town, so many more pakistani, much more than Rochdale. All though the probably just came over from Rochdale and pouched our girls

its frightening that it went on for so long, despite all the reports, not just from the girls, but from adults as well.

Disgusting how Sara was treated

Stunned at what happened to Sara, sidelined then made redundant for reporting the abuse :bored:

Why did it take so long . Those girls were deeply let down by the authorities, its scandalous. Grooming young white girls by muslim men is rife in Bradford, why don't they groom muslim girls.

shocking that this went on for so long and a blind eye was turned. makes you wonder what else police do nothing about

Because they dont see muslim girls as worthless dogs.

From what Daddy said in court which I'd imagine must be a true record as there would be uproar if it wasn't, is that they felt white girls are trained young for sex :umm2:

Yes especially the girl who plays Ruby I thought her portrayal of learning difficulties was excellent.

It's hard because I watched the Pakastani Gogglebox family with the Dad and two sons watching the episode and thought oh god this is awkward but they rightly said it was sick and as Pakastani Muslims they are disgusted. I just hope that there's ongoing investigation throughout the country on this because it still will be happening.

Just finished watching it and the final episode was extremely disturbing.
Seeing how it all unfolded and what went in court, and how Maggie and Sara were treated is appalling. It's the first time I'm learning about this case in details and it's an absolute scandal.
Sara and Maggie are two inspirational women.
The acting was on point :clap2:
