the UK spend 0.7% a year or £12.1 billion to send money to countries where it is not helping. it just goes into the pockets of the government and not to the people who need it.
If the UK cant be sure it is going to people who need it they should stop paying the bill.

The uk is very open about where the money goes. I'm not pranoid enough to believe that they're lying. 0.7% seems fine, if not, too low.

How much are you estimating to permanently stop poverty, famine, preventable diseases etc in the 2nd most populous continent in the world? I feel like you're underestimating the task

Well they should prioritise countries that need it more.
£50 will feed a family of 6 for a month in most parts where Famine are

That would have made a more interesting question than the one you proposed tbf

We need to spend the aid better.
If a country needs aid then they should allow us to put feet on the ground to make sure it is distributed fairly. Instead of the fat cats squirrelling it away for themselves.

This. Proper money handling needs putting in place.

Agree with smudgie. It's a tiny proportion of our budget and really nothing compared to the swathes going untaxed.

Yeah i agree. We shouldn't be throwing money at them but going in and spending that money on making these villages self sustaining. They should have crops, meat, water, schools and a doctors surgery and people trained up.
Alot of money doesn't make it to those who need it.

I've said this before. In some cases the money goes to countries like Pakistan, which is developing a nuclear program. If they can afford to build nuclear weapons, they don't need help from us.
Then there is the concept of helping your own. There are thousands upon thousands of mentally ill, homeless, children in need, to name but a few who could benefit from more help. Hell, ANY help.
But its true if we are sending that much a year why is part of Africa suffering Famine?
That is a question for the big man.
