Piers Morgan has been branded "disgusting" following an interview with two Coronation Street stars about the Manchester terror attack.
Connie Hyde (who plays Gina Seddon) and Sally Dynevor (who plays Sally Webster) were at the Good Morning Britain studios to talk about upcoming storylines.
However, they were instead grilled over last night's (May 22) atrocity at an Ariana Grande concert, which left 22 people dead including children.
Speaking out about the awful news, Sally said: "We want to say before the chat begins that we didn't come down to talk about this. We came to talk about Coronation Street. Right now, we are in a state of shock.
"We want to thank the emergency services, who have been amazing. Especially all the doctors that worked through the night.
"The people of Manchester are strong and resilient but this is terrible. It will make you worry about going to places like the Manchester Arena."
Piers then told the actresses that it was time to start getting angry about terrorism, especially ISIS sympathisers, and stressed that there needs to be a "more concerted effort from the Muslim community" to crack down on extremism.
Refusing to agree with the presenter's comments, Connie hit back: "At the moment, I don't know if that is helping the families affected today. I think this is anger [talking] and we should not think like that. Well, for you maybe [it's the right reaction]."
Sally then emphasised the importance of not blaming the Muslim community for what has happened.
"We cannot do that," she added. "This was just one individual. It's very rare and we cannot allow this to stop us. We have to carry on.
"I woke up this morning and couldn't believe it. But we have to think of all the wonderful things people did last night. The way that people were coming out to help one another was amazing. Love has to come through, not hate. We have to remember all the good things people are doing and not concentrate on the hate."
Those tuning in at home to the tense interview were quick to praise the Coronation Street stars for how they handled Piers's questioning.
Some viewers also lashed out at the presenter for his interviewing style.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote; "Loved seeing Piers Morgan getting his 'ass kicked' on air by #Corrie team this morning #FairPlay."
Another then posted: "So disgusted in how Piers Morgan is handling this #GMB interview with Corrie stars. Stop speculating and perpetuating hate BE PROFESSIONAL."
Moments later, a different viewer wrote: "Ladies from Corrie on GMB showing fantastic control and empathy, especially in the face of Piers Morgan trying to whip up hatred."
Another then posted: "Feel for the Corrie stars being put on the spot on GMB by Piers Morgan. Don't give in to hate #Manchester."
The man suspected of the attack has now been identified as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. It is believed he was born in Manchester, and was of Libyan descent.
