Yeh there was a suggested video at the bottom of the page with May attempting to defend pensioners fuel, the interviewer was equally ***** for both.

Says the IFS is wrong even though Labour uses IFS quotes to back up some of their policies, embarrassing

He gave a good account of himself and his parting shot was spot on too.
An IFS spokesman on the Daily politics today said they felt there was an 8 billion possible shortfall on Labour's plans on the most optimistic level.
However, they had no real idea of the effects of Conservative plans but felt they were not being honest.
That there would still be the squeeze on benefits and in work benefits as a continuation of old policy which they omitted from their manifesto.
It's a simple choice, stick with the same failed policies and failing Con led govt of the last 7 years not giving any real detail again as to their plans.
Or now accept austerity has failed, that more for another 5 years should not be acceptable and give the chance for a bit more to hope for, with a relaxation of such rigid measures under Labour.
Obviously I'm choosing Labour, I see no earthly reason to trust even more austerity under the Cons, when it has failed now near across the board for 7 years in a row.
Weak and untrustworthy..loser.

Yet when it's Theresa May people love the grilling. Jezza needs to take the hit like everyone else or does he need protecting?

It wasn't anything to do with the future of the country however... And what was the inclusion of the IFS opinion about? they only made their manifesto comparison analysis today :/

You couldn't write it - one rule for one and another for their 'messiah'. :joker: They really can't handle equal treatment for their icon as they expect everyone to fawn over him just like them. What a rude awakening the real world will be.

The IFS were as critical as to the Cons too.
I don't mind the grillings,I expect really bad ones to Labour And a little easier ones for the Cons.
I think most viewers see Andrew Neill,Marr etc as really Con supporters anyway.
The only real impartial presenter is Tom Bradby in my view.
I think Corbyn did pretty well with questioning again on the same lines, which is now getting tedious at times too.

Oh don't get me wrong I expected a grilling, and I have no doubt that he would have been more than equip to counter it was the purely personal nature and the 'statements' from people who Corbyn said he had never met used as character references.
The inclusion of the IFS,who are 'impartial' ...but whose analysis was sponsored by Nuffield :/

Animated clowns like Boris Johnson may be suited to possibly some, however the more extrovert seem to say the least of value.

Clearly many people don't want to get rid of our nuclear weapons for obvious reasons and no Prime Minister should be allowed to make such a risky decision based on their own views.
Who are you or Corbyn to think you have the right to put everyone else at risk because of your own personal ideology - you don't have that right - no one does.
Kizzy
27-05-2017, 08:17 AM
Why would not having a nuke put us at risk? Lot's of countries don't have nukes and they aren't living in fear...
We're at risk now aren't we? And we have a nuke, so what protection is that for us?
He can't impose anything, we are a democracy remember? Don't let yourself get carries away with the rhetoric.

Its simple. I haven't been brain washed into believing nuclear weapons are safe and it seems I'm not alone. In March, a global ban treaty negotiation started at the UN in New York with the intention to ban nuclear weapons in the whole world. That, imo is the only way we are going to feel safe.
Trident capabilities are completely dependant on the U.S. which ensures we remain tethered to Americas apron strings and with someone like Trump as potus, we should all be feeling concerned.
We have capabilities, we have certain know how but whilst Britain owns the submarines the weapon system is theirs. Its never been an independent nuclear deterrent and we could never fire that weapon without the supreme commander in Europe, who is American, giving us approval to do that.
Not many of us know this in the UK but its been widely broadcast in America. Trident made a massive nuclear missile launch mistake last January. A test that went off cause and was heading to the Florida coast. Fortunately that missile was unarmed but what if it was armed with a nuclear warhead with the intention of hitting some war torn country. Instead it veers off course and we accidentally kill millions on our side... Ooops! This was the first Trident missile fired in 4 years and the MOD made a statement saying, "Vengeance and her crew were successfully tested and certified"!!
We should all be aware that we have £billions invested in a missile that doesn't work properly.

This myth that the Americans control Trident is bollocks. It's just a myth.
It doesn't run on GPS so the Americans can't turn it off and it doesn't use codes.
The only person who can authorise it's use is a UK Primeminister and the only people who can activate it are our submarine commanders.
We do share our missiles in a joint pool with the US but that's it.
And yes there was a misfire like can happen with all missile systems but it is still the most sophisticated weapons system there is,it doesn't happen often and is still one of the most reliable there is.

Indeed.
My nephew is a submariner on the Vanguard fleet of subs.
First job of a new PM is to write that little love note for the sub commanders.

Yeah and that's one thing that worried me about Corbyns interview on Marr.He refused to answer whether he'd give authorisation in those letters.

Good post. Such misfires clearly pose a much lower risk than ISIS or any other insane religious ideologies that may gain access to such weapons and pose a considerable threat at any given time in the future as well as other dictators such as North Korea. It's a ridiculous comparison.
