Came across this. Sad but true. Desperation from some has led to a very dirty game. However karma will have its day. It always does.

Still a generation gap, I did see a graph somewhere which showed there being no social class divide anymore which is interesting.

Seems very insightful and clever and like it was written by a completely non-bitter person with absolutely zero chips on their shoulders to me. Excellent link, Brillo. Outstanding :clap1:.

Well, anything that gets the younger ones out voting can't be a bad thing.
Shame that the generations seemingly are seen to be divided.
Not sure how much truth is in it all.

the truth in any politics is very little and the young will soon get there with this statement.

We no longer live in a world where we can follow in our parents footsteps. By that I mean, if we work hard and do everything as they once did we won’t do better than they did. We will likely be much poorer than they were. We have had forty years of government working for those behind us and not those ahead of us

Every single generation of young people believe that they're special. Every single young generation thinks the older generation is responsible for ruining the world. However... in twenty or thirty short years, the young generation will be the older generation and a whole new batch of people will be accusing them of not considering the young people. And ever has it been so. It's only by getting older you understand that you are still the same person you were at 16.

Excellent post Livia - it's simply so true. Each generation gets a shock when they finally understand the truth of that.

Any wealth the older generation MIGHT have will be passed down to their children.
Can't say we benefited from that in my generation.

It is not right for the younger generation to expect the older generation to fund their university education as mentioned in the article. Why should it be free?
The current situation that allows it to be paid back monthly at a reasonable rate is quite generous and accommodating in my opinion and I don't think anyone has a right to expect to get it free. We all get a free education for 18 years. If people want to earn the higher salaries in the future they have to contribute. To expect it all to be free sounds like a sense of entitlement in my opinion.

We need to stop identity politics. This shouldn't be about the old and the young, the blacks and the whites, the rich and the poor. We need a political system that is fair to everyone.
The conservatives gave up on the working class 40 years ago. For generations we’ve had nobody within the political system looking out for the working class. No political party has represented the class interest of the large part of the workforce.

It would have more credibility if you had the same attitude when the left of the forum post links from the same news rag.

You always post like yours is the only right opinion and that everyone else is pretty stupid. Which makes you look pretty stupid.
And you don't  You're the queen of condescension on here.

I wasn't talking to you DR, don't weight in just to make trouble. And I'm sure many people will disagree with you anyway. People only tend to find me condescending if they a) don't like me, or b) disagree with me but have neither argument nor comeback to counter.

Sadly the youth vote is just not strong enough, younger people are getting more political with each election but the youth vote won't be a defining voice for a while yet. It's a shame because most younger voters have the right idea.
