I'm not trying to spin a positive into a negative, but the last thing these people need is a song

Hopefully it has the actual local UK artists that were there helping out like Wstrn,Angel,AJ Tracey, Krept and Konan. Will probably just be the usual pop stars though, but at least it will make money so whatever.

It could raise hundreds of thousands even millions for the people.

everyone will be doing it free of charge i dont see the harm?

The survivors of this tragedy will be grateful for your kind donations Simon.

But the last thing they need whilst recovering is a sh*tty song from one of your clones. Thanks.

He could literally give that money over right this second though

The focus should be on loved ones grieving, searching for those missing & bringing people to justice, it shouldn't be glossed over by Simon and the musicians he likes singing a song

I just don't really think it's appropriate this soon

There are hundreds of platforms already available for people to donate, and millions have already been raised. This is a vanity project plain and simple.

Yeah just donate the money instead.

One Love Manchester was fitting considering it was at a concert where people were uniting for their love of an artist's music. People who've lost their homes need help right away - they don't want to wait for a song to be recorded and released and the emphasis to be taken off their plight and put on artists that took an afternoon off earning thousands to record a few lyrics in a studio.

People just hate Simon tbh

I saw no people complaining about the Manchester concert which wasn't that much different tbh. Ariana I think did it out of the goodness of her heart and it made sense as it happened at her concert. The rest of the performers if we are going down the 'Cowell is just doing it to raise his profile route'..same can be said for them surely

A free concert organised by the person (whose fans were) directly affected by the attack, with tickets primarily for those there that night, as a show of defiance in response to a terrorist attack? Yeah totally the same Vicky.

Both raising money for those affected and raising their own profiles at the same time

Edit. I mean the others, not Ariana herself. Who seems to be genuinely affected by what happened, actually upset, and has offered to help in more ways than the concert.

Shaun
15-06-2017, 11:29 PM
I'd agree with the likes of Miley/Bieber etc but most of the lineup being Manchester-based or strongly connected to the city (Take That, Robbie, Liam) made sense. Can't comment about the other British acts because I don't know where Little Mix/Coldplay are from.

Marsh.
15-06-2017, 11:31 PM
Well tbf, people like Miley Cyrus are mates with Ariana so it kind of makes sense she'd try to get as many available artists that she knew to make a big show.

In 2010, Cowell produced a charity single, Everybody Hurts, for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The REM hit was re-recorded by a host of stars including Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Cheryl, Michael Buble, Kylie Minogue and Susan Boyle.

all big names in that year plus Miley Cyrus, Bon Jovi, Leona and Take That and more

Simon Cowell will unite the world of pop to raise money for those impacted by the tragic Grenfell tower fire.

The*X Factor*boss has put together an all-star line-up of pop superstars — including Liam Payne, Lily Allen, Skepta and James Arthur— for a charity cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' to benefit the families of those who died and the survivors who were left homeless after the horrific fire.

Fans will be able to purchase the track on Monday, with the government waiving all VAT costs. ITV is set to premiere the 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' video in primetime next week.

Also taking part in the track will be The Who, Emeli Sandé, Skepta, Louisa Johnson and Craig David, with Cowell stressing that he's still in talks with other artists to sign on.

"Until that last note has been finished, we will not be off the phone," the music mogul told*The Sun.

Cowell first announced*late Thursday (June 15) that he'd be staying up to make calls in order for such a huge fundraiser to be made possible.

Simon, who lives in Holland Park - a mile from the wreckage where hundreds of families lost their homes - said he felt compelled to act after seeing the devastation.
Isabel Infantes/PA Wire
The 57-year-old told the Mirror: “Every hour it got worse and worse. You think of yourself in that situation. The loss of life is terrible. Many of the families have got nothing, no insurance.
“I went around to have a look but couldn’t get close. It’s one of the most shocking things I have ever seen. I feel sadness, anger... so many emotions.
“The lack of safety is so bad. There will be huge repercussions.
“It hit me very hard, especially when I heard about the baby being thrown out of the window.

“I was going to send a cheque but I thought we could do more. That’s why we are making a record. It sends a message of support. We got this up and running in 48 hours. I spoke to all the major labels and they got back to me in an hour offering their support.”

Poor line up

I also disagree thoroughly with whoever said the One Love Manchester Gig was a vanity gig for some artists, I felt it was all out of love. Little Mix had literally just put out Power and could have sung that for promo but they sung a pretty old song and a majority of tickets went to those who were at Ariana's gig to begun with, the guys I got talking to were there and my friends got their tickets free.

I've always thought that people should buy (donate) their way into a charity single personally. Its hard to support these artists who are undoubtedly gaining in some way from this trauma. It just shouts "hi, I'm rich, and I want your money, poor people.. because I'm like.. really charitable".

Daniel-X

This is a huge PR stunt, sorry I'm just not buying it!

For those skating One Love, that was completely different. A terrorist attack happened at MEN arena and artists gathered to show their support and prove that people should not let something like that ruin their lives. Ariana was so emotional all night, she did it purely out the good of her heart because she felt she owed it to her fans.

The all-star charity single organised to raise money for the victims and families of the Grenfell Tower fire in London has reached number one on this week's Official Singles Chart.

The star-studded fundraising single – a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' – amassed 170,000 digital and streaming equivalent sales in just 48 hours to take it to the top, with nearly 169,000 of those sales coming from downloads.
