I don't think there are enough facepalms available on the site for the hypocrisy of calling teachers racist for not allowing a no whites day:laugh:

PC should be outcast now. It has gone too far as people get hysterical and just keep pushing and pushing the boundaries until the whole thing is just one big spectacle.

PC definitely equals control and dictatorship.

Yikes.

Black/Feminist/LGBT movement is about EVERYONE living together and being treated the same way and stupid people like that ruin everything what we are trying to do. "No white day" encourages racism (and yes you can be racist towards a white person, it is not called reverse racism, it is basically RACISM) and these kind of people are bigger threats than racist white people because these people are demolishing what people worked hard for years.

Or - and I know this may be a totally wild and out there concept - but maybe there's a middle ground that is actually best for everyone?

Perspective?

Controversy continues to simmer at Evergreen State College, centered around biology professor Bret Weinstein who spoke out against a proposed campus-wide event where white students and faculty would leave campus voluntarily for one day.
"The Day of Absence" is a decades-old tradition at the Washington state, based on the Douglas Turner Ward play by the same name. In past years, students and faculty of color used the Day of Absence to highlight their important role in the community by voluntarily leaving campus for one day. This year, however, it was proposed that it would be white students and faculty who'll be asked to leave.

Explain how what you define as PC ... it is entirely subjective.

Is this not you suggesting control and dictatorship :/

Maybe you should ask Jeremy Corbyn - he might be Prime Minister one day (doubt it though).

What? it's a 'better together' exercise that's all... It was done here after brexit where all EU workers were given the day off to show how pivotal they are to society.

Of course it's been hijacked as some protest :/

Better together by segregating people by skin colour?Sounds legit.

Did I say anyone was? I was just highlighting the similarity in the better together exercise. Try to maintain focus on the topic in discussion.

I think the students that are calling for this have completely missed the point of the tradition.

Why didn't you look into the history surrounding the tradition before posting that ridiculous video? Things might have made bore sense to you than some adolescent knee jerk swear fest by two halfwits... Just a thought.

The students wanting white people to disappear for the day are the ones not understanding the tradition.

Also, if the 'non-white' staff/pupils chose not to go in for the day because of this cause, thats rather different to demanding others don't go in.

The black students are protesting that the whites won't stay off for the day and why should they have to just because they are white?
Maybe they don't want anything to do with these ridiculous segregation traditions?
What business is it of the black student protesters?

However, it does raise a pertinent point. The reason many people push back against a "PC" culture is because of the gross misinterpretation of discriminatory issues.

They do, I would have thought it was as beneficial for black students to realise how much their white tutors and peers are an integral part of the school than the other way around.
The students who were campaigning for this and who wanted a say are not only the black students, it's crazy it's been taken to such a place and made to be a black v white issue. If you hear the pov of the students involved the whole drama seems a massive overreaction.
