Just wondering - as I love reading and buy books like they're going out of fashion - what everybody's favourite books are?

My favourite three are probably (1) To Kill A Mockingbird - by Harper Lee (2) Lorelei's Secret - by Carolyn Parkhurst, and (3) American Psycho - by Bret Easton Ellis.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy!!

Greatest trilogy (in 5 parts!) ever written anywhere! It will change the way you view and think about the whole world.

Dan Brown's books are pretty good, if a little one dimensional.

LOTR is brilliant, as is a similar series by Terry Brooks, the Shannara Series.

I loved the fact the LOTR books are soooo long (and not boring!!). You can get lost in that whole world for days on end, brilliant stuff.

My favourite books are a series called the Shanarra series by Terry Brooks they are very good - down the lines of maybe lord of the rings but a lot lighter and more fun to read.

I also like Terry Pratchets Good Omens - that is the funniest book I have read for a long time

Generally though I read anything - have just read all the new Dan Brown books and enjoyed them :colour:

I like any book that grabs my attention within the first two pages.

I love some of the classics - Jane Austen, To Kill a Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights etc., but I also love things like Bridget Jones Diary and of course Harry Potter.

Though I never managed to get through the Lord of the Rings books - found them really heavy going.

I like any sort of book but love To Kill a Mockingbird and any Ian Rankin books.

But my fav books are Phillip Pulman his dark materials trilogy! half way between harry potter and lord of the rings! OMG they're amazing and I' m on the final one of the trilogy and cant put it down but at the same time i want to savour it as i know it will end soon!!!

Brook's Shannara series is great, Sunny. I love em. The first three books especially were really good reads.

Totally agree - wow I have never known anyone else that has heard of them and when I try to describe them to people they give me that "hmmm elves kind of look"

LOL, "hmmm elves kind of look" is one I'm familiar with! Most of the books I read are that kind of stuff, LOTR, the Dragonlance series, Shannara etc, etc.

I'd highly recommend the series by Terry Goodkind as well, Wizards First Rule is the first in the series. Great books along the same lines as the above.

Good to see someone is into the same kind of stuff I read, as you say most people hear elves and goblins and turn their noses up at it!

I've got too many books to count, and could never choose a favourite.
BTW, have any other Harry Potter fans found that book six isn't as good as book five, or is it just me?

I prefer book five, the Umbridge thing had me in stitches. It had just the right balance of humour and drama.
