A London council is evacuating 161 households from tower blocks clad in the same combustible material as Grefell Tower.
The Taplow tower in the Chalcots Estate in Camden has similar plastic panels that were fitted to the outside of the 24-storey Grenfell Tower.

Great response. Shame it took that avoidable tragedy to result in double checking all the tower blocks, but well done Camden Council.

It's what the delayed response to announcing the true number of deaths from Grenfell is for. They are slowly upping the body count to minimise the outrage in the hopes that the public move on and focus on the next big story when the full picture of what happened is revealed.

well i agree about the body count but think after the enquiry we will find everyone stuck to the rules and that in fact it was the rules that allowed this to happen

ie they were not good enough

Yup, not a single government head will roll although apparently the cladding used and approved is supposedly illegal in the first place.

Its 4 big blocks now in Camden
around 200 will not leave.

The Council needs to find hotels
and rooms that allow dogs

Three blocks where we used to live have doff cladding.
All a bit confusing, apparently the council/social housing group specified that the cladding had to be safe, been tested now and they are combustible.
Cladding will be removed, residents can stay in situ, 24 hour concierge service and a 24 hour fire patrol on hand.
All tarted up in 2014.

60 blocks now across the UK, so it's not just Kensington that cut costs it's systematic across the UK

So.... it turns out Labour-controlled councils have cut costs in the same way as Conservative councils? I hope they're going to be the subject of the same brainless vitriol that was aimed at Kensington and Chelsea. But I suspect not.

In the usual aimed at a select few rude remark way you appear to suggest that council decisions were the only issue, they were not. The crux of the matter is the watering down of fire regs, as well as the piss poor response from K&C to the incident initially.
Where was the councils contingency plan? If you think that they are absolved due to the cladding being used in other boroughs think again.
