So, BB8 is almost upon us, all the media excitement, the new housemates, nominations!
So who will win the crucial vote this year? The answer.. Maybe Channel 4 again?

Over the past 7 series of Big Brother, Channel 4 have shown signs of diversity when selecting the winner.
For example:
Craig (Straight Male)
Brian (Gay)
Kate (Straight Female)
Cameron (Christian/religious/Virgin)
Nadia (transsexual)

Then In 2006, BBC2's Damon Rose had this to say...
"Big Brother is an important TV show in terms of representation,
Big Brother has still not properly attempted to reflect diversity when it comes to disability."

So how did channel 4 address this issue without having to introduce a housemate with physical disabilities?
Answer: Pete Bennett. (how convenient)

After the farcical events of CBB5, I find this attitude so predictable of Channel 4, always bowing down to the mad suggestions of a modern 'PC' world. IMO this year's public vote will again mean nothing, and before anyone rants about Pete, yes he was probably the most popular housemate last year and deserved to win but doesn't anyone else think that Channel 4 knew this from the very beginning?

My main point is.. No matter how popular a housemate is this time round, don't expect them to win.
The winner of BB8 could possibly be Channel 4's PC agenda. IMO of course

(One more interesting fact when it comes to the public vote, according to Channel 4 research the target demographic audience for people who are expected to vote are social class D and E.
Over the past 3 years, 83% of votes have come from social classes C2, D, E)

A - upper middle class - higher managerial, administrative or professional
B - middle class - intermediate managerial, administrative or professional
C1 - lower middle class - supervisory or clerical, junior managerial, administrative or professional
C2 - skilled working class - skilled manual workers
D - working class - semi and unskilled manual workers
E - those at lowest level of subsistence - casual or lowest grade workers, unemployed

I don't get what you are trying to say really, that you don't think disabled people should be allowed in Big Brother because they will have a public advantage?

I don't think that is true, Pete was the favourite from early on and yeah that did spoil last years show quite a bit, but I don't think that should mean no other people with disabilities can ever go on the show again. Although I don't think it would be safe for say a wheelchair bound person to go in, especially with some of the tasks and various living conditions, but that's not to say they shouldn't be allowed to.

Maybe that is not what you was trying to say, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Pete was a real nice guy though, i think he would have won even if he didn't have tourrettes!

Nothing wrong with that btw. But they are frightened to death of mad Politically Correct views.
For example: someone speaks out about the lack of disabled housemates, so Big Brother bosses panic and purposely look for someone with a disability who would appear popular. They found Pete. I've Nothing against him, i thought he was fantastic and deserved to win but don't you think this was all part of the agenda.

BTW Clom, in response to ur original post. I think you are spot-on. Pete was clearly going to win from the start because he was/is "different".

So, I don't see the point in putting in someone who stands head and shoulders above the rest in diversity.

I apologize profusely to all fans of BB7 but I honestly feel last year's fiasco was a disgrace and embarrassment to British television.

I agree. It was a fix from the start, and putting Nikki back in was the worst decision in reality TV history.

So why wasn't he selected for BB5 and 6?
Maybe because he wasn't part of the agenda at that time.
