Endemol, the company behind Big Brother, have announced that this year's Big Brother house will be a non-smoking zone after health chiefs classed it as a work place????? WTF!

A BB source told a British newspaper: “The kind of people we sign up are often the type of people who like a fag. If they are banned from smoking in the house, the atmosphere could get pretty tense.”

We can all remember the fights caused by lack of ciggies.
'Nadia' is the first person to spring to mind.

In my opinion, What will happen is that there will become a clear smokers/non-smokers divide, as the smokers are forced to spend more and more time in the garden indulging their habit while the others have free reign of the house.

A good/bad thing? your thoughts....

I heard something about the set of Eastenders having to be non-smoking so technically that means Dot Cotton can't light up...

Back to Big Brother though, I reckon the non-smoking thing will definately cause friction. The lack of nicotine will drive people over the edge. Especially the non-smokers who don't get what the smokers are going through

It will certainly spice things up thats for sure and as seen on previous series a lack of cigarettes tends to make those who smoke lash out alot more.

I think it will cause a bit of friction, espessially on the launch night when all the housemates are nervous and whatever going in and the doors being all locked from going outside.

Unless they have some kind of smoking room within the house??

This will surely cause Tension. i think they should set a area where the smokers can smoke to make things easier.

hmm dont they always go outside anyway?
alot of the time theres a divide cuz the non smokers dont like the smokers standing near em al the time.... they either have a designated palce or outside...

its not gonna be much diff....

Yeah, I'm sure they'll be allowed to smoke in the Garden.

I think this is a little too harsh. Whilst it is a TV studio at the end of the day, these housemates will have to live here for what I'm guessing is at least 13 weeks, so I think they should be allowed to smoke in the house. After all, it is an isolated area.

Could make interesting viewing :)
Don't think it's fair though

Smoking should not be allowed in enclosed spaces full stop, amazed it has taken so long for this obscenity to be confined behind closed doors.

And what about those who don't like the smoke and have to put up with the foul stench and the damage it will cause to their internal organs?

Doesn't seem to have bothered anyone from previous BB's.

It may not have bothered them (this is an unsubstantiated claim), but it would certainly bother ME and it would bother every persons's internal organs greatly. The right to life should outweigh liberty to smoke.

The smokers will probably just smoke in the garden, but as long as we dont have any Nadias who love their ciggarettes and that door into the garden is locked at times so who knows?
