Disturbing article on how political correctness got in the way of the police investigating/taking action against Pakistani men grooming young vulnerable girls for fear of racist slurs.
It just shows how bulling PC can be and the pitfalls created by the over-reaction of many to anything related to race.

PC also stops people from calling you 'luv' on tibb because you (personally you alone) thought it was sexist or something.. weird youre only against it when it suits, considering youre also hyper-PC when it suits...
Anyhow, I think its dangerous to blame this incident solely on political correctness, when there are so many lessons to learn from it, and so many factors that resulted in the outcome. Incompetence from individuals of child protective services, and police force, lack of evidence, lack of people coming forward, etc etc. If pc was a factor, it was one or many, so lets not discuss a sensitive and complex issue like the answer is as simple as 'stop political correctness' its a bit silly.

Actually PC does not stop sexist comments on here, as you (personally you alone) would now, because PC has double standards and concentrates it's PC tirade unequally, largely being preoccupied in certain areas such as racism. Sexism comes considerably far lower down on its list of priorities.
As we can see from the article PC played a considerable part in what continued to happen to those poor girls. Any form of fanaticism has catastophic effects leaving a trail of innocent victims in its wake.

I cba to make sense of your first paragraph. It doesnt make sense btw. I feel like you pressed the thesaurus button on half the words or something before posting. Also I dont wanna pander to your PC-ways in a thread about how bad PC is because you're making it too easy.
nothing to add to your second paragraph.. PC was one of many factors, claiming its the only factor is dumb.. I'm sure you're not doing that so it looks like we half-agree which is good going for us!

What's hard to understand that PC's favourite 'ist' is racist - and is the one it gets most hysterical about leading to issues such as those mentioned in the article.

There are child grooming gangs of all colours that have been allowed to fly under the radar and prey on local authority care kids for years, don't kid yourself it's only one certain group.

I think that there was some fear of coming across as prejudice from The Police's angle which lead to such a disgusting case take so long to get caught.
However I think in alot of these child grooming cases there are times where a Police Officer is one of the paedophiles, it's not nice to think about, but it's true and we all know that The Police do unofficially protect their own to a large extent.
There are child grooming gangs of all colours that have been allowed to fly under the radar and prey on local authority care kids for years, don't kid yourself it's only one certain group.
But do they single out a certain type like these vile animals did?
Your second point...no wonder they fly under the radar when the local councils and mps ignore face to face meetings with concerned social care workers....like jeremy corbyn did in islington.
He ignored a visit from 3 social workers who had evidence and concerns about the abuse of 100 to 1000 of youngsters in islingtons care system.

The subject matter is very serious.
However the determined effort of yourself (and others) to blame anything you can think of on "the left" or "PC" is absolute nonsense. Tiresome nonsense.

There is no doubting that PC has and does effect the decisions of some as many are worried about being labelled racist.
As we have seen on here you can be labelled that way for the slightest of things by people who are either too hasty in their judgements or who have a very left-wing bias and seem to see racism in any sentence or concern that in any way refers to race, culture or religion.
Some I think is based on control and power whilst with others it is just the sheer exuberance of naive youngsters who can see no further than the mere mention or suggestion of skin colour.
If anyone is concerned about reporting something because of fears of such labelling then it is something to be concerned about and demonstrates how controlling and worrisome PC has become.
It has its place of course but it has gone too far and anyone with any grey cells and commonsense knows that. Some use it for their own ends/agendas.
Just as you talk of PC being blamed for everything as 'tiresome nonsence' so PC exuberance has become the same - tiresome nonsense often used to shut down opposing opinion and valid critique.

As for "labelling on here", far from it being any small thing, I think it takes quite a lot for people to actually use terms like racist on this forum. It's quite rare. You just have a very lax definition of "any slight thing".

The only thread I've seen you being called outright racist in recently is the one about the school dishwashing complaint.
And to be frank - sometimes racism is just racism Brillo. The irony being that you don't think people should be free to say "you are being racist"... Or in other words... You don't think it's PC to call someone racist..

Its not really digging up old news though cause there was the drama about it a couple of weeks ago and the horrific insight we got from the tv programme that interviewed the police, social worker and victim that was aired on monday night.
Here is a short piece from one interview witht the victim.
I was being sick out the side of the bed but that didnt stop them. One held a knife at my throat as another put himself in my mouth..all this was going on as a third raped me at the bottom if the bed....she was 14.

It's only "digging up old, horrific stories" if you're using it to dismiss an opposing point and further your agenda.
Otherwise, it's called "precedent".

It's not a crime to cite old instances, even if the crimes are horrendous as in this case. Everything harks back to something else... and to use that fact to suggest there was more that could have been done, well, I don't see that as sick. I see it as citing a precedent.
The Asian child grooming gangs targeted young white girls. There is no denying that. It was the fear of offending that stopped this horrific incident coming to light earlier, so the girls involved continued to be abused and/or not believed. No decent, thinking person imagines that every Asian man thinks this was any more than decent, thinking people imagine all Muslims are terrorists. It is only idiots who believe stuff like that. And denying those young girls a voice for fear of offending a community who was equally outraged at what happened, backfired on the mainly white, middle-class people who made the mistake of not allowing the incident to be dragged fully into the light... in my opinion.

If it was someone else I might agree but - in my opinion - you're willfully overlooking the fact that Brillo, amoungst others, only ever post links to anything in order to score "TiBB points for their team", and from the content and wording of this thread, that's exactly what this is. There are certain things that - again in my opinion - it's in seriously bad form to cite to try to "make your point about PC and stuff" on the internet. This is one of those things.
Now, if anyone wants to have a serious, open, level-headed discussion about these things that would be absolutely fair enough and something worth engaging in. Posting it to say "SEE THIS WHY PC CULTURE BAD!!" ...? No. Not OK. In my opinion.

Who are you to accuse people of only ever posting anything to score Tibb points for their team - what team? On top of all your other imperfections you think you can read minds now do you? Are you a qualified registered psychologist?
You getting on your high horse like this can also be interpreted as tactics and in poor taste - using child abuse as a way of attempting to take the moral high ground to undermine another in my opinion.
It is the typical bullying, controlling and downright transparent behaviour of the kind of PC bigot I was originally referring to who tries to shut down the opinions of others in my opinion. If anyone is point scoring here it isn't me!!!

Maybe so and I actually do dislike having to get into this petty **** on threads about things like this but the alternative is to just to see these threads, know exactly what they are, but say nothing let it run riot. It's a matter of balancing what leaves less of a bad taste in my mouth. On balance, I feel like it's worse to let people believe that these "subtle" dig-threads are going unnoticed. They are not. They are as transparent as wet tissue paper.

Who is trying to "shut down" your opinion? All I'm doing is pointing out that I can see through your oh-so-cunning use of news stories to "lefty-bash", and stating MY opinion that I think using these stories to do that is right down in the gutter when it comes to "low".
Finally: You can't post endlessly about "PC" for weeks (thread, after thread, after thread) then mention it in the title of another thread and expect people to believe that it's purely coincidence... and not just yet another thread with the same intent and jack-**** to do with the victims of these horrific crimes. It's ludicrous. We're not in a court of law, I don't have a "burden of proof", I don't need a profession to back up my opinion, it's a chat forum and I can point out the blatantly obvious. I see you Brillo, the vast majority of people do, and putting your hands over your eyes and saying "no u can't, prove it!" is going to change absolutely nothing about that.

I see you too and the way you make announcements such as 'the vast majority of people do ......' speaks volumes. You are trying to intimidate me with numbers - totally transparent.
So you think you speak for the vast majority - that is an extremely arrogant belief. I have no doubt you speak for a certain number on here who share your PC opinions but equally I know several would agree with me. Quite frankly I don't care how many people you think you speak for as I don't operate that way and take such comments with the pinch of salt they deserve.
I hate PC and have made that abundantly clear. I am also as entitled as anyone to express my opinions in as many threads as I like. If there is some stipulation in the rules that says I can't than point me in that direction, if not then either respond to my threads without such blatant attempts to humiliate or don't respond at all. Simple.
You entered the threads - bit silly to get your knickers in a twist if you saw what you expected to see. I would of thought that feeling the way you do you would avoid my threads like the plague. Why would I avoid your threads like the plague rather than enter them and attempt to combat the things that you're peddling? I'm sorry if you find what I have to say "intimidating" but, just to be clear, I don't find you or anything you have to say "intimidating" in the slightest so why would I be cowering in another corner of the forum with my tail between my legs? If I see something I don't agree with, or something that I find distasteful, I'm going to say so. You can accuse me of "bullying" all you want but the fact is, I don't need (nor do I even particularly want) numbers on my side. I have a negative opinion of you. A strongly negative opinion. I find your threads and posts to be agenda-driven and often racist. Now, I don't *expect* you to particularly care about that but it is what it is, and it seems that you do, because you are in fact the one with your "knickers in a twist" about "being insulted" when all people are being is honest in their reactions to your posts. That does not make me "a bully", or "attempting to humiliate you", and it is in fact YOU who are trying to shut down MY opinions by using such loaded terms.
