Basically, for my English A-Level 20% of my course is based around an NEA comparing a theme/technique in a literary text and non-literary text. I'm doing my question around 'how fame is presented in Star Island and Reality TV'
Star Island centres around some air head named Cherry Pye, lacking in talent who is a drug addict/alcoholic. For my non-literary text i was going to transcribe a few scenes from a particular contestant/person from an RTV show
Does anyone have any good RTV contestants/cast members I can compare to Ms Pye? And if so any scenes I can watch to transcribe and compare the novel to?
Thanks xx

I'd be looking for interviews/dialogue/clips of people talking about said RTV contestant to compare with extracts from the novel

On a more serious note, I suppose you could do Helen Wood - somebody who the nation hated and displayed poor attitude yet earned gratitude and reward by winning Big Brother

She wouldn't really work with the character from the novel :(

Has anyone seen the Anna Nicole Smith Show? I'm reading the book at the moment but finding it really hard to compare the character to anyone except Paris, who is mentioned frequently throughout the novel so it might be an obvious choice.

Anna-Nicole would be perfect imo

Sarah Harding?
I need an American airhead TBH, I'll be studying dialogue for the most part of it and character descriptions/back stories etc.

Kim Richards?
Teresa Guidice! She went to jail etc. so she would be a good one to focus on

She doesn't do drugs or drink (not publicly anyway)

Kim Richards?
She would be brilliant actually, Cherry Pye (the character who I'm studying) was also a child star who's basically been failed by her publicists/managers/parents :skull:
I'll watch some clips of both Anna-Nicole and Kim tonight

Yes but she has been in trouble with the law, has had rocky relationships and rumours surrounding her life and then she's turning her life around now so it could relate to the character

I think Kim would be great then, on one episode she was caught taking pills in the bathroom, and I think there's loads of interviews with her on Youtube about her life.

Is she a bit of an airhead/bimbo? And is Kim for that matter?

Yes, she's quite dumb in the seasons 3-6 and even had arguments and stopped to say stuff like 'what is that word?...' and is a mess but a hilarious one

Definitely look at Lindsey Lohan too and her recent reality series, and her past
she made a song called 'daughter to father' about how she has a terrible relationship with her father

Thank you both for your help
I'll look at those three and Anna Nicole and Paris over the next week or so. Whichever fits best I'll go with
Jemma from CBB20 may be good to choose?

Kim Richards is definitely a good comparison. Teresa Giudice isn't—she's definitely flawed and talentless, but she's quite a well-put-together woman in general (aside from some obvious messy moments).
Try and find some clips of Kim and see what you think. S2 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is the most thorough representation of Kim's battle with alcoholism, and the closest depiction of this 'Cherry Pye' woman that you describe.

Or if you want to go for someone you know a little bit more about (that's if you don't watch Housewives), Brandi Granville could also work.

I handed my final copy of this in the other day, I ended up going with Kim Richards and it worked brilliantly (thanks to everyone who helped me in picking her )
