but say when a thread had like 2 pages and you click on page 2
why does it take me to the top of the page and not the bottom coz lets face it thats where most of us are headed?

It's been there since 2009, on forum lists of posts and 'New Posts' (you use that, yeah?), and the sidebar on the forum index has had it for the last few years also.
But it is better to use New Posts (or Today's Posts) rather than the sidebar on the forum index.

You can also press the 'quick reply' button (next to the multiquote button) if you wanna go straight to the message text box after reading the OP
