View Full Version : Maybe the recent controversy and negative press will benefit Big Brother 8...

...here are my thoughts.

BB4 was heavily criticised after being a fairly dull series. Big Brother fans were slightly concerned about how this might effect the future of the show.

So...to counter this...Big Brother became EVIL!

The show was given a fresh new feeling and success was restored; resulting in the re-birth of Celebrity Big Brother.

However...since 2004/2005, little has been done to maintain this freshness and the Big Brother format has stayed relatively the same.

After the controversial re-entering of housemates in BB7 and the infamous race-row in Celeb BB5...the negative press has re-occured. Although for different reasons than after BB4, the pressure on Endemol/C4 remains the same.

Therefore I think that BB8 is due a 'shake-up'. The show is in a similar stage to pre-BB5, this leads me to believe that Endemol will insert a new lease of life; and give it that 'fresh' feeling I wont stop talking about.

This is just my opinion and maybe I'm just hoping too hard for BB8 to be an ace series; but I would appreciate hearing other people's thoughts on what I have just said and whether or not you agree.

Thanks for reading

Insteresting thread dude, I wreckon BB will make a few changes to the show this year after the CBB5 series. I dont think the race-row will affect this series though. Although I say the future of CBB is in doubt...

Interesting thoughts. Personally, I don't think Endemol care who they upset just as long as they bury the evidence and are not liable for anything. Thus, you may be right. I certainly don't agree with the people who think it's going to be boring.

I hope you're right. Sounds like a good theory and it kinda puts my flop theory out the window! Great thread, nice to have less negativity although I cause most of it!

exactly. as is said, all publicity is good publicity. so what if it were bad in the last series, in the long run it has spread awareness of the show and more ppl will tune in to watch it.

They are going to be so wary about BB8 now though. They are going to be very selective about what they show. It all depends on the HM's though really. IMO, the HM's make the show.

I don't think it will be boring - that, for Endemol, would be a much worse scenario than a controversial one. CBB5 won't really affect BB - but I would be surprised if there's another CBB!

Boring would kill it, so they won't do that. CBB5 was losing ratings so fast until the whole incident happened.

When Big Brother went "Evil" it was brilliant. But can they really get more evil?

Big Brother 8 will have to be dramatic & controversial.

I am very sure that we shall all be debating some incident that has occured at a particular time & date, during the three month period, it is inevitable.

If the show is boring and ordinary, it simply won't get the ratings. The first day will have massive ratings, as we watch all the new housemates going into the BB house, for the first time.

But then, the ratings will dip a bit, as days go by.

That is the critical point, when Big Brothers editing team will be desperately looking for anything they can find, which will interest the audience at home, something argumentative, of course.

We all know by now, what happened in Celebrity Big Brother, last January!!

There won't be any racial stuff, that's for sure!! Endemol will understand that fully and not repeat it either.

That was (Plan A) which made the show over 2 million more ratings. (Just shows this forum what the public likes to see)

So, it shall be (Plan B) and the editing team from Endemol will have a plan already, you can be sure of that!

As long as the viewing figures are decent, Endemol and producers dont really care. The only reason they mixed it up a little after BB4 was because the ratings where awful.

yeah good thoughts people  Although there is always pressure on Endemol/C4 to make BB a success, I just think that there is added pressure on them this year.

I can remember them putting the hot tub in the house in BB1 just after Claire went in. They needed to keep people watching after Nasty Nick was evicted.

maybe there will be an upstairs on this years house, and it will seperate two lots of housemates, but they will not be kept secret, they will be able to look over on the garden! and it will be called the BB VIP club

I think we're going to see a completely different format this year, reality TV re-developed.

I think a shake-up is needed, but the producers need to watch their backs this series or the show could be killed.
