View Full Version : I'm frightened for my life!

For as long as I can remember, I have had a fear of the floor collapsing. I think it started when I was little and read in the newspaper that a truck had been under a bridge that collapsed. That seemed to introduce me to the possibility. To find out that something you've trusted can fail at a young age can be somewhat traumatizing. Now I am scared when I'm in homes, apartments, etc... my fiance and I live in an apartment in a tower block. Sometimes it scares me and other times it doesn't. I get terrified when i think about how heavy the couch is, or the fridge, or especially the washing machine when it's loaded and running. I get nervous bringing home heavy bags of groceries. I feel like there might be a sink hole and I'm going to die!

Maybe I didn't survive the alien abduction, maybe I'm actually dead. Last night I felt someone laying on my neck and for months my neck is swollen probably from the aliens injecting stuff into me.

I get a bit anxious in the bath...always think for some reason the weight of the bath, the water and me together will go through the ceiling  Its ridiculous really...though I am sure I read a story a while back of this happening to someone D:

When I was a kid I was scared there was a volcano under my bath and I'd boil to death in the bath because of that scene in Dante's Peak where the couple go swimming and boil :worry:

It truly scares me. Especially with the water thing since I saw it happen to Bianca on Eastenders. Anyway also with doors I always think if I slam it it'll fall off and shatter into a thousand pieces and blind me.

That scene haunted my nightmares for ages after watching that. Also the old lady in the acid lake :(

This is a serious phobia! When I lay in bed I can't get to sleep because I think the tower block is swaying side to side.

It might be, depending how tall it is and how high up you are. My ex lived on the 20th floor of one of those and you could feel the building move when it was windy..

- there's someone secretly living in there enjoying my old stuff
- my ceiling is gonna fall on me

True story: when I had my wee house in Richmond i got in the bath one morning and unknown to me the bath was set on wooden blocks and when i reclined the bath it fell backwards by a foot and all the water rushed over my head and on the floor. I also flew back and all the water ran into the living room below. :umm2:
the people before had hid this with side skirting for some reason
On the plus side the house was on gas but not connected to the mains so we lived their for 3 years fuel free

Best move if it is a real phobia, then you will sleep better.
My fear was always a snake coming up the loo and biting my bits, or out of the grid at the swimming pool.
Still get it now and then if I am stressed, even have to check the bed if it gets really bad.:hehe:

This is me, it's made even worse by a tiny hole in my ceiling from when the position of the light was moved years ago, I feel like someone could be spying on me through it.

The medical name for that is deep throat!
