Couldn't find a thread on it for all series. I've started this yesterday and I'm hoping (might be wishful thinking) to watch all the series over Summer.

So far, I think it's brilliant. A real good dark humour mixed with drama in the show. Kev and Veronica are my favourite characters (although I like everyone bar Steve)

I'm on S1 at the minute and the last episode I watched was the one where Kev and Veronica get 'married', the best episode yet :love:

It was great in its heyday. I can't exactly remember where it declined in quality, but it definitely did.

I think that is literally when the show lost its spark. Some of the seasons after that were okay, but it just continued to decline after that.

I'm OBSESSED with Sheila. I've finished S1, going to start S2 later. Loved the first series it's brilliantly written with the right mix of dark humour and drama. My only niggle is I'd like to see some of the characters such as Kash, Yvonne and Ian developed and less focus on Fiona and Steve (bc Steve is trash let's face it gals)

I avoided watching the US version for such a long time because I didn't think there was any way it could possibly be as good as the first few seasons of the UK version, but it is 10 times better. Stop watching after Season 3 and divert yourself to the consistently great version!

I've never really been interested in the US version just because I can't imagine it working over in the states but I've heard it's actually fantastic.

1-3 here is some of the best UK drama produced. Loses its way and just plods on until it finally gets put out of its misery.

One of the rare British shows where the Americans have recreated it to be just as good if not better. The US one is a must watch if you ever get the chance too

I'm only halfway through S4, so it'll be a wonder if I manage to even finish ours before summer is over :laugh: but yes Drew I've heard fantastic things about it so I'll definitley give it a watch at some point (probably next year) and post my thoughts :love:

Series 2 Episode 4 is still one of the best hours of British TV ever.

Loved this and despite the loss of most of the Gallaghers I do think the Maguires injected new life into it and kept it going a couple more years, but it lost it's way around series 6/7. They really needed to revamp it again in a way similar to season 4 by bringing in a new family but they just missed the chance and just bought in a few individual characters people didn't really care about. The trouble was the last couple of series probably focused on Frank too much as the series was always at it's best when it focused on other characters.


Absolutely agree with Shameless USA too - superb show in it's own right and amazing that the one show I thought would never translate to the US got it so right, and quite interesting to see it go in a different direction due to it not losing most it's case early on. Just wish Netflix would pick up the latter series - was bad enough More4 dropped it but now Netflix have picked up one series surely no reason not to pick up the rest and actually get up to date.

I'm in absolute bits @ Mandy's death. Haven't cried at a TV show like this in years. Proper ugly crying.

I agree. S7 was the worst one to date, by some considerable way. S8 has got off to a wobbly start too. Patty is the only good thing :flutter:

Finished this tonight :( honestly will actually really miss it, hope they do bring it back some day but it had been milked for what it was worth. Shame the Maguries were so dismissed though in the final episode when they've been such a huge part of the show and kept it surviving as the Gallaghers slowly left.

One of the oddest things about Shameless was the more it focused on it's title character, the worse it was. Frank, in both the UK and US versions, is essentially quite unlikeable.
