Opinions on BBCAN5?

I'm a bit confused on the general opinion for this season.

I was involved in BB Twitter for the first time during BBCAN5 and the general consensus seemed to be that it was THE season. However on here not many people seemed to like it. I really enjoyed it and Demika is my favourite alliance of all time.

What's your opinion on it?

Looking back it's aged pretty well and I really enjoyed it. Although it kinda went downhill in the second half.

The first half was AMAZING and that double eviction / the downfall of Neda still gives me chills. :love:

The pre-jury boot order is bad but other than that it's a good season, I prefer it to BBCAN3 and maybe BBCAN4 as well

Karen and Dre are absolute stars, but besides them, Cass, Gary (and to a lesser extent Demika) the cast is HORRIBLE, I mean they voted Kevin to win so what do you expect

There's lots of drama (mostly Ika) which is why I liked it.

Demetres was nice, but boring, while Ika was just mean-spirited rather than entertaining most of the time.

The fact The Ika Wong managed to transform herself from fourth boot to fourth place and secured herself as one of the best players of all time

It's not great. On par with BBCAN4. It has some great characters, but pre jury it has a very obvious boot order and just 1 dominating alliance with zero power shifts, therefore lacking anything meaty. Also It's frustrating as it feels the same week repeats itself over and over again from Week 2 - Week 5, with how the vote is going and individuals that act like they're gunna switch and don't.

Following that it gets exciting for a bit, but it's still kinda predictable.

I wasn't a big Ika fan from her first appearance... but she proved herself in season 5... she owned it... and she saved us from having to watch a Neda run series. She made the show unpredictable and entertaining.

The only downside to the season was the winner... but I feel that way about almost all the seasons bar Sarah.

I enjoyed it and it had some amazing moments but overall I preferred 4 (haven't seen the other 3). Kevin really dragged it down for me though, I disliked him so much, like he's probably one of my least favourite housemates of any series including BBUK and he was such a big part of the second half of the series it kind of ruined my enjoyment of it a bit. Demika are my all time favourite 'showmance' though (and both amazing in their own right), Neda's eviction :love:, and I liked most of the rest of the cast tbh, and it's just a good show for the format/tasks/production etc, so I'd still say it was a good season.

This season was too Ika-based for me but because I can see she's fairly entertaining that wasn't a terrible thing. It had its moments but BBCAN has produced a lot better. Although Ika being taken down at the end by the winner is a saving grace that helps the season a bit in hindsight.

BBCAN5 is in the BBCAN3 to BBCAN1 territory of bottom of the BBCAN franchise and might be the worst of the bunch. But I firmly believe BBCAN has 5 somewhat strong or really strong seasons though.

Honestly, it was the worst season in my view. The whole vets vs. newbies were promising, but most of the vets they put in were DUDS and same goes for the newbies. Demika and Karen were the saving graces and had they had not made it to the end I probably would have turned off.
The competitions were probably the least creative of all the seasons, I mean Kevin literally studied all of BBCAN's competitions hence why he won them all. The twists were STUPID (I mean I'm enjoying BB19's Den of Temptation Twist more I mean HELLO) and honestly there was practically no Canada's vote which was very annoying.

Right now:

2 > 4 > 1 > 3 > 5

but the first 2 are the only ones set in stone for me... 1, 3 & 5 can easily be flipped around and possibly will be based on my mood the next time I rank the seasons.

3 might be the closest to a dull season BUT my love for Godfrey affects how I view the season with him being entertaining all the way throughout for a 2nd place finish. Edit: Also it did have a few moments as well with the triple eviction, Brittnee's power, etc.

Kevin was one of the main reasons I couldn't enjoy the season. The faux underdog edit and him constantly acting like he's the master of the game, despite making constant ****ty game decisions (yet he still won bc he had to be next to Karen of all people) :umm2:

PERSONALLY I think good, but it's the second worst season after 4 and I think that your enjoyment of it solely depends if you were fully on board with Team Ika or Team Kevin.

The first half is good and the downfall of Neda was a fantastic story arc but after that the season pretty much became a DemIka vs Kevin love-fest with almost endless confessionals about how important "knowing your days" and "studying". Karen is obviously an absolute gem and a top 5 HG for me and her lasting to the end was great.
