Sarah and Amelia's reaction says otherwise.

They overacted.

Firstly he didn't mean anything by it and secondly it's Karthik from the Apprentice so not sure what you were expecting?

I hope they nom him.

She didn't need to, she looked great anyway but appearances shouldn't really matter so idk why he thinks they should change.

I don't think he meant to be rude...he is just a bit stupid, insensitive and tactless.
He was like it in the Apprentice...he thinks he is clever and full of worldly wisdom..and he isn't.

Everyone is being so extra about this :skull:

Clearly he just thought she should dress up more glam for the party, but he worded it wrongly which is why they got offended.

Pretty much.

It's awkward watching him.

Marsh.

It's a phrase meaning to go and get dressed up for a night out or whatever.

I've heard lots of girls say "Just gonna go make myself pretty" (i.e.. Put makeup on). They don't mean they're literally ugly without it. It's a figure of speech.

Locke.
04-08-2017, 09:57 PM
Just can't believe he'd be so rude and mean to a beautiful specimen of a female like this, I really hope that Danan and Chad can teach him something about chivalry in there

So? Now they've heard it. They should pipe down.

It was an awkward way of trying to say enjoy yourself..a bit sexist ..she should have told him to have a makeover

MrWong
04-08-2017, 10:03 PM
So? Now they've heard it. They should pipe down.

My point was, as they are girls, they're around other girls constantly yet that phrase offended them and wasn't just a figure of speech. Their reaction suggest it's not said by lots of girls.

Marsh.

My point was, as they are girls, they're around other girls constantly yet that phrase offended them and wasn't just a figure of speech.

Except it was and is a figure of speech.

They may well have felt offended and took it the wrong way because they themselves haven't heard it but any mature adult would get over it when they had the fact explained to them.

Marsh.

God help them if he'd said "Come on darling, put on your dancing shoes!"

She'd have been frothing at the mouth.

How is that even comparable to make yourself pretty? :joker:

They're both figures of speech about getting ready to go out. Rather obvious.

I doubt many people put literal dancing shoes on these days.

Yet their reaction says otherwise.

It was a sexist comment and I'm sure it'll happen again.

Another phrase no doubt.

Their reaction says otherwise?

So, they could literally react to anything and it would be their reaction and how they feel that's correct and important in spite of what was actually said?

As for that last remark, yeah, because I'm clearly making up that it's a phrase because I'm so scared of Karthick being labelled sexist. :umm2:

Not.

*holds out a bag*

"Here Sarah, make yourself useful love and hold this open for me please!"

"Make myself useful??? You mean I'm USELESS???? :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:"

rusticgal

Karthick is the sort of guy that enjoys dressing up and looking smart...it's naive of him to think that someone can't just dress as they please and still be able to enjoy an evening. He is slightly old fashioned...and it does come across a bit sexist. I don't think he meant anything by it...but he should be a little more open minded.

I'll give him a pass on this one (may have been edited against him or he worded it wrong). If it happens again though, I'll start to think he can be a controlling character concerning women = very offputing

He is really chauvinistic in general. if I remember correctly he didnt want to give any woman any kind of credit on the apprentice or praise them on tasks. He should have told her cheer up and join the party I didnt like his terminology of making herself look pretty. Who is he to say that.

Karthik was being sexist and rude.

Karthik thinks (or says in the diary room) that he is the hub of humour in the house.

Karthik is deluded and that's why no one seems to gravitate towards him.

He seems to have learned to shut up a little bit since his ' Apprentice' days but I don't think he will be liked in the house.

Yes just like if i said 'why don't you get that awful mono brow waxed, it looks ridiculous' i wouldn't be being mean i would be being honest .

I don't like him and he should keep his stupid patronizing gob shut !

I'm not sure if he meant it in a chauvinistic way or it was just wrong choice of words. But yes, not the smartest thing to say...

mr rochester
05-08-2017, 06:44 AM
He prefixed it with 'What you need to do...' and that's why what he said was offensive. Sarah doesn't need to do anything. Karthik needs to find a better way to say things if he doesn't mean to offend. He is condescending...

Yeah he s on my list for the first 4 to go.Gen not being sexist its just that all 4 of these are complete wak*rs . Chad,Karthwick,Sam then Jordan to go first. Looks like the poor selection of males is carrying on from Civilian BB , that s all , plus its not as if Karthwick s monobrow is attractive is it as hes brought looks into it . It looks ugly to me . Like an elongated slug sitting on top of his nose . So bye bye to all 4 of these and you can take your di*ks in your hand as you go . Sarah to win . You just need to speak up a bit more girl .

Excellent post - people reacted like I was crazy when I said someone seemed MGTOW - they didnt know what I was talking about it - but its obvious men are doing it when you know about it. Its like when that whole pick up thing came out - once the girls figured it out it was over.
You just have to search it to learn what it is.
