Since we usually get decent weather in June/July, the weather always seems bad once the school break up at the end of July.
Would you like to see school holidays perhaps changed from June to July instead of July to August?

Obvs those of us in year 11-13 have exams so we're off by end of June and private schools finish early July.
Think thats what they do in Scotland and N.Ireland and it does sorta make sense but it does mean the first term is really long

Yeah That's true, maybe we could have 2 weeks at October half term as it's one of the best.
Yeah the kiddies/families usually miss most of the good weather by the time the holidays start so this would be a good idea.

Yeah it's quite sad really. :(
I legit think we've only had like 1 day where it's not been raining in August.

It's pouring it down here and it's meant to go on till 10PM. :umm2:
August always has such Autumn like weather I find, and then September returns to sunny weather.

Omg yeah tea, maybe they could have a week in September off and one in October to break the term up a bit.

Or perhaps In august/September there could be shorter days and then just 1 week half term in October.

My two go back next Tuesday and the weather has been just grand up here for the duration, hardly a cloud in the sky today.
And well done to middle girl LT who got 6 As and one B in her O levels/grade/nationals yesterday

I would like the summer holidays broken down into shorter holidays tbh...6 weeks is just horrendous, relentless, whiney and ****ing expensive.

In Scotland it's end of June to mid August which makes SO much more sense
It's the time of year when the nights are longest and the weather is best - also an even break from Christmas to summer kinda

Schools have the ability to change the holiday/term times.
My daughter will be off over a fortnight in October, she is happy giving up some of her summer holidays but she is also getting a shorter Christmas holiday as well.:fist:

We are only 2 weeks in and my son is bored. Only so much I can pay for activities and I only have a week off work so I have to rely on my dad to help out for 6 weeks and its tough. Would prefer to have shorter bursts of hols.over the whole school year

It's fine the way it is, it's just that British weather is terrible and unpredictable.
One summer it could be consistently hot like it was like year, and the next, it's dreary with a few weeks of sunshine spread out over the season. Even whenever it snows here, it's always around February time as opposed to Christmas.

The summer and winter breaks should be switched. Six weeks over Christmas, a fortnight over summer - or three weeks for both?
I'm off June-September in college anyway

I have june july august and half of september as holiday months... Which is long but my school slays us in exam months.
I dont waste my holiday tho, i keep researching stuff and read books. I bought an english book called "Building skills for proficiency" so i can further my english education.

I would rather it stayed the same. Summer is the only opportunity I have to work, I don't work during term time because my mum has basically forbidden me because she wants me to focus on uni.
supernoodles!

It's not so much the fact that it begins in July as September is often a month with lovely weather but I do think it is far too long and should be 4 weeks with the other weeks added on to say Easter and Christmas

Personally I'd take two weeks off of the summer holidays and add them onto the Christmas break. From what I've seen, most of the kids (mine included) are bored out of their minds by the end of summer, and are pretty exhausted by the time the Christmas break comes, and not quite back to 100% by the end of that break.
I'd say it's fine as it is with them not going off until almost Christmas, so they're not bouncing off the walls, but currently they go back 2nd week in January and I'd say they could do with having until around the 20th.
