I found this funny.

Prince humiliates Paris HiltonLegendary musician, Prince humiliated Paris Hilton by challenging her to sing live, it has been reported.

Prince, who was performing at Las Vegas' Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino on April 21, invited Paris to join him on stage.

As Paris excitedly dashed up to meet the pop superstar, Prince handed her a microphone and allegedly said to the audience, "Lets see if she can really sing!"

According to Us Weekly magazine, an angry and humiliated Paris stormed off the stage and left the club minutes later.

Paris' representatives have denied the incident occurred, saying: "This item is false."
Well they would deny the incident occurred wouldn't they!

Anyway, to comment on the story. What does everybody expect? She's a talentless bimbo. Are we not all aware of this?

He's made albums where he's played every instrument on the album and was also behind the producing desk. There's a lot more to him that his lack of stature and his look.

Fierce? Are you a dancer?

lily.
01-05-2007, 10:38 AM
Definition of Fierce:

1. menacingly wild, savage, or hostile: fierce animals; a fierce look.
2. violent in force, intensity, etc.: fierce winds.
3. furiously eager or intense: fierce competition.
4. Informal. extremely bad or severe: a fierce cold.

I suppose #4 could apply to her singing then..

Sometimes it is not about opinions sometimes it’s there for everybody to see. Example – If I was to say that Christiano Ronaldo can’t play football in my opinion. What would you think of my opinion? You’d respect my opinion but conclude that I didn’t know what I was on about. Well I would any way. This is the same. It’s clear that Prince is immensely talented. Anyone can see it.

A lack of respect?? Interesting.

What we have here is a situation where you class my personal opinion on the man as a person to be a slur on his ability to do his job. That is not the case.

We could compare this to another famous person I dislike: Michael Jackson. Clearly he has talent and clearly he creates something special or else he wouldn't be moving CDs like shite off a shovel for the last 20-odd years. However, I don't like his music. I don't like his style. And, I don't particularly like him as a person. I don't dispute that he has talent. I just don't appreciate the talent he has, because quite simply "it's not my cup of tea".

Personally I don't think you do understand talent. I think I've got a bit of an idea but I don't think many people truly understand what it's like to be better at something than everybody else.

As for your arragance remark - Define arrogant? I don't think you know what it means.

Sorry if you think its false, it might be. You know what the rumor machine that surrounds these people is like. It was reported in more than one place but it might have had just the one source. All the same I did find the idea funny.

As for criticizing her she opens herself up for that if you want to walk in the public light and have yourself all over the papers and magazines then you are going to get criticized. There is not much you can do about it. It goes with the job and she is quite easy to have a go at on looks alone. Even fans of her must accept that.

Arrogance (Definition): Making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights; overbearingly assuming; insolently proud.

My definition of it with regards to calling you arrogant is that you sometimes come across as Mr All-knowing. You diss and dismiss other people's opinions if they don't concur with your own, and are almost aloof in ur tone at times.

Of course I don't know what it's like to be superior at something. I don't have a unique talent. I'm not exceptional at any one thing. However, I could think of one or two people who are, and who don't act in a pretentious manner.

Also, I never said he shouldn't act in a pretentious manner. I merely stated that I dislike him because of it. Whether he has the "right" to act that way because of his talent is really neither here nor there. We live in a free society and he may act however he chooses. Just as I may like or dislike him if I so desire.

Michael Schumacher is arrogant. I can't speak for Ali, because to be perfectly honest, I don't know a great deal about him. But Schumacher is arrogant. There's no denying he's good at what he does, but he doesn't have to behave as though he's above everyone else.

The reason I chose those two is cos I don't agree with that definiton of arrogance even if you got it from dictionary.com. For me, both of these guys backed up every claim they made. So, for me, these guys are simply confident and cocky, and I dont see anything wrong with that. Which brings us back to me, I think I'm a confident guy and I resent you calling me arrogant.

Firstly, I doubt this is even true considering the source. Secondly, whilst humiliating someone - whoever it may be - is not on, having your own opinion is. Perhaps Prince just doesn't consider Paris to be talented (can't say I do either to be honest), and the situation got blown out of proportion. I don't think Paris can sing either really, I'm not a fan, but at the same time I've never hated her and do congratulate her when she's done something worthy of it.

I don't know much about Prince's personality either myself, but I don't see why he'd bother making a comment like that. All I know is that he's a huge star and extremely talented. I'm shocked people haven't heard of him really.

I was shocked at that too Ash, but I figured it was cuz he was HUGE in my childhood, and that some people were too young to have heard of him. However, I have a vast knowledge of all music.. even from before my time. So I suppose it depends on how interested you are in music.

Yeah, that's probably what it is.
Anyway, as for the Richard Branson thing - I didn't realise that was such a big issue, he's known for having a laugh - the cheerful billionaire. Just like getting 'Punk'D' to be honest, and as far as I'm aware Paris saw it that way too. It didn't enrage any Paris Hilton fans I happen to know anyway. You may read the odd bit in the papers, but that's hardly the most reliable thing in the world.

I could sing it to you, but I can take no responsibility for damage to the hearing.

And Chris, do you renember what Richard Branson did to Paris last year?

:shocked:No

Havent you? Umm well basically Richard invited Paris to his sons Alice In Wonderland themed birthday party. Paris asked if she could go dressed as Alice. Unknown to Paris, Richard requested that all the waitresses at the party should dress up as Alice also. Paris arrived at the party in her costume, and people thought she was a waitress becuase of the outfits.

Lmao.. that reminded me of the party in Bridget Jones where nobody told her that it wasn't fancy dress, and she came with her bunny costume on!!!

Because he thought it would be funny and she is up for a joke.

Read my view on it above Ruth.
Anyway, I'm beginning to have less and less faith in the papers these days and all - they're so unreliable! It gets dead annoying.

EDIT: Red has just summarised it.

Prince is proably annoyed with people that are not talented in music but seem to make their way off the back of manufactured music and their fame, he's just seeing if she can actually sing.

I'm amazed that some people haven't heard of Prince! Or am I just really old (there's no need to answer that)!

Anyway, I have to say, I have most of Prince's albums, and I honestly think he is a musical genius. I think he's a pretty switched on guy as well, you know. He gives me the impression that he's just taking the p*** half the time.

Remember in the 80s when people were saying, who's better out of Michael Jackson and Prince? Prince wins hands down. Michael Jackson had one great album - Thriller - and he had Quincy Jones to thank for that.

I'm not a Paris hater - how could I hate anyone I don't know? But I'll tell you this - I do think she's untalented, and not worthy of all the fame and adoration she receives. And when I've read interviews with her, she comes across as a real bitch. This story about Prince humiliating her is not true, but it does make me wonder what it would be like if Paris actually attempted to sing live!

I'm not at all surprised some of you haven't heard of Prince. After all, he's never been in the tabloids or starred in his own reality TV show so how would you be familiar with him.

And Linda, whatever, about you won. You had to start a thread just so you could insult me in it. Purlease. We both know what happened.

But you would have thought people would take enough interest in music to look at the roots of todays music in the distant past at least. Princes music will now be the driving force behind some of the sounds of today. To disregard roots of modern music shows a lack of respect for the medium and shows contempt for Artists of the past and their contribution to the world of music. After all todays music has been created from evolutionary process refined over centuries and without the works the past we wouldn't have the music we love today.

I think it's a society thing. I have friends who are like this. They scratch the surface of something then act like they're some kind of expert and if someone was any good then thyey'd have heard of them. Cos there's nothing cool out there that they haven't heard of.
