Take a look at this video on YouTube:

Love this video. Back in the 70s two students in London bought the lion cub at Harrods. As he got bigger and less manageable they decided to give him a chance at Freedom in Africa.
After a year, despite being told his was now wild with a pride of his own and wouldn't remember them, they went back to see him. His reaction to them was lovely.

Love that video
It's mesmerising Suze. I have watched it so many times as I find it very moving. It just proves how close Nature and nurture are. Even with a wild animal if you give love you get it back.

They did the best thing for the lion by sending him to Africa to be a lion. If someone else had bought him he would probably have ended up in a zoo or worse. They adored that lion and vice versa as can be clearly seen.
Selling lions in department stores is the problem here - not anything they did.

....do you really think that harrods had several lions on offer in store
this would have been a 'special order' no demand...no sale
Mark L
loved the lion though and am not questioning the owners loving care but this so clearly was NOT a good idea

There were two lion cubs for sale - one boy and one girl. No one knows what became of the female.

thanks! but OMG what a mess.................NOT a good idea all round
i still continue to think that if it had not been for these 'upper class twits@ and others
buying lions they would not have been in harrods in the first place
