As a mum of three I like a break from kids sometimes, especially other people's noisy, badly behaved ones. I can understand why.

The owner of a Devon coffee lounge has defended his controversial ‘no children under 12’ policy in spite of calls for a boycott of the ocean liner themed premises – which welcomes dogs.
The Chart Room, which is believed to be the UK’s only ocean liner themed coffee lounge, opened within the Brixham Steam Packet Company shop in Brixham a month ago. The shop, located at Old Foundry Court, Fore Street, sells antique and reproduction marine collectibles and specialises in ocean liner memorabilia. The coffee lounge is themed around 1920s to 1950s steamship travel and sells high-class teas and coffees and homemade cakes, pastries and savoury dishes. It does not ‘ban’ children under 12 but has a sign publicly stating that it does not cater for this age group.

Calling for a boycott is a bit much, just don't go in there if you have young kids, silly binches.

Fair play, kids touch things and a cafe like a boat would have seemed like a good place to play. I bet he got so sick of having to tell off other peoples kids who then took offence to that he just banned the lot.

I don't think it hurts to have themed places as there are lots of places you can go that are young children friendly, though personally I don't mind having the little ones around as they can be a joy.

...:umm2:... one of the only things I actually like about my job is that there's no chance of me encountering anyone under the age of 18 :joker:.
But yeah, I get it . I love my kids and I like going out to eat with them etc... but today I went out with th'lady for breakfast at a café after the school run and it was just lovely. Quiet, peaceful, no children :joker:. It's the first time we've done something like that for literally years (as youngest has only just started full time school).

We dream of this.We go out to eat quite alot but it's always with the kids. You can't enjoy your food with a two year old.
