Hello forum

Quick question . Do you still buy cds? I have a huge collection but my daughter says I need to move with the times and upgrade to downloads and streaming . I have such a huge collection of cds - I haven't the heart to part with them . A lot of money I've spent over the years .

I was in HMV store today and I saw they still sell a lot and they still cost around a tenner . They can't be that old fashioned then !

I don't like downloads because I like to be able to hold a cd in my hands. Where's the fun if everything becomes digital!

A lot of you on here are younger than me so maybe you can offer me your opinions!

Ron.

My daughter connects her phone to the car. I couldn't be bothered doing that every time. R.

I too have a pretty big collection but have no intention of parting with them. Like you I like to have a hard copy - downloading just isn't the same! :hee:

Yes, but mostly get them as gifts.
I have a few I haven't listened to yet from quite a while ago.

Only of the albums that I really entirely love. Nothing can compete with the booklets

You cant give CDs away at auction. Vinyl on the other hand is HUGE and makes top $$

Up until about 2012/2013 but then my parents cars had the connect your phone feature so I used that mostly.

And I was kind of giving a Bose speaker when my parents divorced as neither seemed bother by it so I used that in the house.

in the good old vinyl days which seem to be making a bit of a recovery, the records sleeve was amazing, with all the sleeve notes, lyrics and art work. It was as much a part of the purchase as the music.

Cd's on the other hand, the booklets are crappy so i just go with download these days, although i have a huge cd collection.

It's funny how vinyl is making a comeback . We got rid of our collection years back - A decision I since regret . Whatever next! it'll be vhs , admittedly vhs quality isn't very good though! R.

Wow leather can't imagine any of my old CDs selling for that! Although I do have a signed Katherine Jenkins cd that might be worth a bit . R.

I buy CDs.
Downloads I don't really like.

I have loads of vinyl too from what my family bought over the decades.
Which I have now slowly claimed.

Love the singles, albums and CDs in my hands.
You really feel you've got something as opposed to downloads.

I'm managing to build up a good history of music across what my family have liked over the decades too.
It's for me really fascinating.

If I love the album enough I'll buy the CD. But I tend to opt for the vinyl now and just use the Amazon Auto-rip/download card.

I don't really listen to CD's anymore but I do still buy them if I really like the album. I own every album/dvd/book/etc that R. Kelly has released so I'll continue to buy those just for the collection. Other than those, I've bought The 1975's second album and Ty Dolla $ign's debut album in recent months. I used to buy an album every month or two though so it is a big drop off.

Only if I love the artist and collect their merch.

Last album I bought was Glory Days by Little Mix

Ew I don't even own a CD player.

And the one in the car has an access card for the local recycling center stuck inside it thanks to a mischievous 4 year old :joker:.

I never really buy music anymore, but if it's a band/artist I really like I prefer to have a physical copy of their album

I buy them for my favourite bands, like Blondie or Green Day, not in general though.
