It's not awful but I can't really think what they can do now to boost ratings again
Brining back Cheryl and Simon helped a bit but now they've kinda hit a brick wall - a major change up to the show is needed but idk what

Hopefully they just focus on themselves and their ratings and not try to compete with Strictly

Last year fell to 6.2 on the Sunday so if tonight can hold on to last nights audience then that'll be good at least.

See last year got 6.8m then 6.2m then the following Saturday aired at 8:15pm as soon as the strictly launch finished and got 8.3m. The rest of the auditions then stayed in the high 7's - but this year there's a 40 minute overlap next week so there's no telling how it'll affect XF

Are they doing two weeks of Six Chair (four episodes) this year? The final is the first weekend of December this year which is not okay either :bored:
I wonder whether they'll move the IAC final to the Friday and have a 'finals weekend' like the BBC do with SPOTY/Strictly/The Apprentice or keep it on the Sunday and have X Factor run 19:00-21:00. Could be quite a big weekend

They have said the plan is to extend the middle rounds so I think it'll be something like
8 Audition episodes (up from 7 in 2016)
2 Bootcamp (up from 1 in 2016)
4 Six chair (up from 2 in 2016)
2 Judges houses (same as 2016)
6 Live weeks (down from 10 in 2016)
In comparison to last year this will last 14 weeks which is down from 16, but it started a week later and apparently will end a week earlier.
IMO it would be better to last one extra week (7 live shows) and end on December 10th, around the usual finale date. That's a week after IAC usually ends and a week before SCD ends, it isn't as random as the start of December and is in time for the Christmas charts so would make most sense
Jack_
03-09-2017, 03:40 PM
Sounds about right, I forgot there was only one Bootcamp episode last series
I agree they should've never moved the final weekend but it's definitely 2nd/3rd December this year because the competition confirmed it, so unless IAC starts a week earlier they'll be finishing around the same time.

Maybe they'll have the final final on the Sunday only one hour then? That's what The Voice done, then they could have the IAC final at 9pm

I think there's more pressure on the show these days to hit that christmas number one which fair play they did for years and it was allways a no brainier but recently acts aren't even hitting the top 5 so it's a bit of a smart move imo.
I do hate the 6 chair challenge though I hope they aren't extending it to 4 episodes like you said as it's tedious.

Exactly and alot of people will associate that song as a Christmas song which after Christmas is over is unappealing to the majority let's hope they actually write a good winners single that represents the contestant this year.

As long as they don't give the winner a Christmas song this year (not only was matts song awful, but they could only play it for like 2 weeks) then idc what they give them to sing.

Yeah something like Impossible that James Arthur had was much more fitting as it stayed in the charts for weeks and still gets airplay etc. Matt's song was done after a week

Down to 5.6m against strictlys 8.8m last night. XF still won the 16-34s though

Saturday - 7.77m

I love the six chair challenge, matter of fact, I think that is the only part of the X-Factor I have truly enjoyed ever since I've started watching. X-Factor has been a bit boring these past few years, and I have never watched a series in full in like forever. Ratings are still decent tho.

Literally nothing can save XF as well
Like Back to basics can help a lot of shows but that doesn't help XF at all and when they chuck loads of twist at us it does even worse
I genuinely can't think of anything they can do to help it gain viewers back - they got rid of Louis - didn't work - brought him back - didn't work. Even bringing Cheryl and Sharon back didn't help much
It's hardly bad in this day and age. It's double Love Island's rating and that's probably seen as the most popular RTV show today besides Bake Off and IAC.

I think it's seem as bad, not because of the numbers themselves, but because it's always compared to Strictly - as it should be
SCD shows that a lot of people are still watching Saturday night TV but the mass majority have now chosen Strictly over XF
supertv247
01-10-2017, 08:05 PM
What I find weird is that strictly got the exact same as last year, yet XF was 2 million down. So it’s not like 2 million have just turned over to strictly, they’ve literally just disappeared elsewhere
supertv247
02-10-2017, 09:10 AM
5.1 million last night - down 1.1m on last Sunday and the lowest ever Sunday rating.
Of course this week started at 7:30pm for the first time, and clashed with strictly (8.5m) for that first 30 minutes - but that's still really bad, as it clashes every year at this stage. Those first 30 minutes must have been dire to bring the whole rating down so much on last week
supertv247
08-10-2017, 12:42 PM
4.8 million for the last bootcamp. Second lowest rating ever (after the last auditions episode 2 weeks ago) 5 million behind strictly with 9.8 million
Morgan.
08-10-2017, 12:52 PM
Probably unrelated but I'm finding this series of The X Factor is getting better and easier to watch as it goes on. Like the first 3 auditions episodes were good, then it was boring and since Bootcamp started I've been gripped. This happens every year for me though, mind.
supertv247
08-10-2017, 01:04 PM
Hmm.. usually it gets better around the six chair challenge, but IMO the last episode of bootcamp was quite boring. It felt like too much filler. They should either show everyone’s Arena audition and have it really fast paced, or miss it out altogether. 6CC isn’t as bad because they have to show everyone so it moves a lot quicker and actually has you gripped
Jack_
08-10-2017, 01:10 PM
The Arena Bootcamp's are crap, I much prefer when they do the group tasks and stuff like that (which they condensed into half an episode this year) because at least it feels like a distinct stage rather than just an audition with an audience
I wish they'd take Bootcamp to a country house again, do some group challenges, maybe some individual performances and then have each category line up so the judges can call the names out of the people who are going through...like the good old days
supertv247
08-10-2017, 01:13 PM
Yeah, for the arena auditions they should’ve just been on and off - no feedback or VTs or filler - and then each category gathered at the end to be told who’s through and who’s not. Would’ve been much faster paced, less boring and more ‘must see’ at the end.
supertv247
09-10-2017, 10:14 AM
Sunday night - 5.74 million - up 740k on last Sunday and 1 million on Saturday. It peaked with 7.13m which is 2.1m more than Saturday night so yet again proving the 6CC is the most popular part of the show. No idea why they spent so long on Bootcamp now

Well the fact Simon keeps on saying 'we want to give the pubic more time to get to know the acts' and 'there's not many weeks this year' gives me some semblance of hope that he realises this format is a disaster and next year lobbies ITV to revert back to ten weeks again. The problem is of course, with these ratings...why would they be interested in doing that?

I wonder whether there'd be any worth in moving BGT (even if it didn't do as well this year) to the autumn and switching their other shows around a little bit
supertv247
14-11-2017, 12:26 PM
One option ITV could be looking at its alternating between The Voice and The X Factor every autumn. Both are doing quite badly this year, mainly due to singing show fatigue, so perhaps having each every second year would help. Also, BGT is struggling quite badly with its live shows (getting 12 million viewers for auditions then 5 million for live shows is not good...) so by doing this, they could bring BGT forward into the spring slot where The Voice usually is and run it with the longer American format. Fitting The Voice around SNT was already proving difficult and now they've thrown Dancing On Ice into the mix too...
The other day there I thought of something quite funny (that could actually be true...) in that they've deliberately sabotaged The X Factor format this year so that it rates badly, therefore next year they can have a big comeback series (for example they could say Cheryl's back, arena auditions are back, 10 live shows are back, deadlock is back etc to get everyone hyped) then if that improves ratings even slightly to at least 5 million it will look like a big success compare to this year. Had they just done that this year, ratings would've stayed the same as last or fallen slightly so it wouldn't have looked any good anyway.. Just a thought

When an episode of cbb on channel 5 is only a million viewers below one of ITV's flagship shows that's a worry but they've already recommissioning it for next year....im enjoying it though there's ALOT of talent but could we be seeing the lowest selling winners single ever? I think the fact it's failing is these double eliminations. It's like the voice we never get to really know the contestants.

The format is absolutely trash and is why ratings are so low.
However, the way things are going with RakSu & Grace (if one of them wins) I don’t think it’ll be the worst winners single ever. I mean it can’t so worse than Louisa’s.

higher than expected, I predict Fergie's presence would pull in max 5.5 mil.
Fergie isn't going to bring in any viewers when her latest singles didn't even chart in the UK and her album peaked at #49

Her album didnt even make top 40 here so she aint bringing in any viewers

and the ratings next week would probably dip below 4m, or in the 4.0 mil. to 4.4 mil. range, depending on the musical guests and the two acts eliminated on Sunday night...

I predict:
Saturday: 5.4 mil.
Sunday: 6.0 mil.

I predict:
Saturday: 5.4 mil.
Sunday: 6.0 mil.
Both shows start the exact same time as strictly so wouldn’t be so sure they’ll jump 1 - 2 million up on last week
I predict
4.9
5.7

Last night's final averaged 4.4 million and here's how every Saturday night final has rated in the past;
2004 - 8.10m
2005 - 9.20m
2006 - 10.31m
2007 - 11.36m
2008 - 13.20m
2009 - 12.36m
2010 - 14.05m
2011 - 10.92m
2012 - 9.50m
2013 - 8.54m
2014 - 8.39m
2015 - 5.94m
2016 - 5.52m
2017 - 4.40m
4 years on, and it's halved.. and 4 years ago it was seen as a bad rating!

Bb used to pull more than that on a nightly basis lol

Tragic. I'm at a loss for words! TXF is flopping worse than BB (based on ratings decline)...at least BB is consistent...
Predictions for the grand finale:
4.5 to 5.0 mil.

That's what they get for messing around with the format. More of my fiends watched BB18 than this series ffs

The X Factor Final - 5.20m (21.9%)
peak - 7.03m (27.8%) at 20:50
overnight series average - 5.25m (24.8%)
In context, a good rating for the final gaining 800k overnight and most watched live show but as we all know, this series has done horrendously.

It got 4.4 on Saturday night, they’re using that to make it look worse than it is

the media being their usual selves...
not surprised over there, the final usually rates higher than normal, not only for TXF, but for all shows...
I think we are in TXF's BB10 stage...no hype and all, the media criticizing it...I have a feeling next year's series would be the last...

The thing is 2015 was 7.8m and 2016 was 7.6m so it had more or less stabilised, then they messed it up. Last years auditions were around 1 million up year on year but then they chose the wrong acts for live shows and the ratings went back down. So that's why the decided to completely revamp live shows this year.. when in fact it wasn't the format it was the choices that were wrong

This years deserved low ratings with the horrible live format

Bring back pop idol or Popstars. Hated this years format it just seemed the judges had no input. I do think rak-su will be big though, can't believe ITV have renewed the voice tbh it hasn't produced a single memorable artist.
Barry.
