Researchers trained the AI system with pictures from a dating website
The computer made measurements of the ratios between different features
It logged which ones were more likely to appear in gay than straight people
The system was then tested on faces it did not know were gay or straight
It correctly selected the man's sexuality 91 per cent of the time
Critics say that the software could be used to 'out' people currently in the closet

It's surprising that it can tell someone's sexuality from the face but more surprising it was made for that purpose. Sexuality is the business of the individual and not anyone else.

It's been slammed by other researchers

They only used white people
They only used people who identified as heterosexual or homosexual, and male or female on a public dating site
It was only highly accurate when comparing one knowing straight person to one knowing gay person, so it only really shows who of them two were more gay
Also two of the five features used to identify a gay person was their grooming style and their facial expression, I'm guessing that means an unhappy ungroomed guy wil alwaysl be flagged up as quite likely to be straight.

Still the data shows that technology can have a working scale of 'not likely to be gay' to 'very likely to be gay' which is kind of mental. Does make me wonder why they only chose to use white people, and whether it would work on other races.

There is nothing wrong with being gay but equally there is nothing wrong with not wanting to be gay. Each to their own.

What we don't want, and should not put up with, is the implication from some quarters that anyone who doesn't want to be gay is therefore homophobic. That bloody PC nonsence again.

I disagree. Its this very mindset that causes social divisions in several aspects of humanity... Although also might just highlight a personal insecurity. But then again, people being insecure in this way would just cause more social division, so either way it's kinda ****ed up. The next generation will do a better job of eliminating this mindset imo
