I totally agree with Kim, a lady I work with is about 60 and she calls everyone love and one day a man was so mean to her she was all 'I am not your love just do your job I am not after a chit chat' and he upset her and in all honesty she is a lovely person, hate pricks like that who look for things to be offended by.

Exactly. I call people "hon" and was accused of being "patronising". I say it all the time to people and I don't say it to be patronising. It's a term of endearment. Like Kim says, people needs to get a life and stop looking for things to complain about. *****ing snowflakes.

All that was missing was "BE A WOMAN and get over it!"
Marsh.

She's right about that woman though. Purposely and actively looking for things to take offence to.

A queen dragging some wretched offense addict :clap1:
Anyone that gets offended by being called Dear or Darling should re-evaluate their lives because something went wrong somewhere.
Marsh.
28-09-2017, 08:51 PM
Although, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a tad patronised by being called love by a 16 year old.
Urgh why hasn't Kim received a knighthood yet?
She's right though, and people like that woman drive me insane. Get over yourself. Boycotting a shop because someone called you darling? I'd call her a hell of a lot worse if she came to my till and acted like that.

Well, to be this passionately against it then it must offend you, no? :umm2:
Although, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a tad patronised by being called love by a 16 year old.
Why do you feel patronised though? Why can't it be seen as them just being friendly?

I dunno, a kid saying "Thank you, love" is just a bit weird to me.
I always associate it with elders talking to younger. :worry:

Putting the “darling” debate aside, would you feel patronised if somebody referred to you as “mate” in an argument?
