I am fuming, today in work I was on the fast scan lanes and a man came to me saying he didn't know how to use them and could I help, which I did even though he is a regular, after I had helped him he reached over and pulled my jacket and touched my boob, I pulled back and he said he was trying to see my name badge.
I never said much but then on my break I mentioned it and another person said 'ohh Jim? the one in the shorts? He's done that to such and such too'. Made me feel sick this afternoon, dirty old bastard trying to touch up young girls

That’s sexual harassment, you could’ve reported him to the police

Your manager should deal with this but you need to make a complaint to the manager. Sexual abuse if not acceptable and should be prosecuted.

I have my arse grabbed in the gym once.
I made a thread about it I think.
At the time i was shocked like you, but looking back on it it was kind of hot.

So common from my experience. Any job working with the public, expect some degree of groping. Bosses don't care, and police laugh and say its part of the job D: Doesn;t seem to happen to males as often as females, but even some blokes I worked with in my teens used to get idiots groping them
Vicky.

I should clarify maybe, the bit about police, I did not report someone for groping alone. This was groping and trying to drag me into the loos. Response was basically...nothing actually bad happened, he was just trying it on, get over it. I was 17.

Did you report it to your manager, if he is a regular the manager should have a word

Needs reporting, clearly not an accident, and makes you think how far has he gone or will go to get a fix, has he touched children, if there was doubt then let it go but clearly a sex pest.

I mentioned it today to my section leader and to be honest he made me feel stupid for speaking up.
He said was he actually trying to see your badge though? I said well if he was he clearly shouldn't be attempting to touch me anyway especially where he did and I said other people knew who it was straight away and I was just uncomfortable in general and he said 'ok Amy we'll send someone in to look after you if he comes in while you're in ok?'
So basically wish I'd just kept my mouth shut and just mentioned it to someone if he comes to me again and they can take over

That's ridiculous. And quite patronising.
That's another way of saying "This issue is yours and yours alone so we'll send someone to look after you when he's around". Pathetic.

Absolutely not acceptable. Your section leader has a responsibility to look after his staff, it comes under 'duty of care'. I hope you have the courage to take this complaint the next step up from your section leader and be sure to tell that person what your section leader said. If you don't want to take it that far, you need to approach your section leader next time you're in and tell him you are not satisfied with his response and would like him to reconsider what's to be done about the man who groped you. Before he has the chance to reply, you need to tell him that you'd prefer not to take this to his manager but won't hesitate to do so if he can't sort it out.

It's ok. I'm so much happier in this department. Everyone is great and we have a laugh. Some men are just creeps.

Sexual harassment is unacceptable. It's not part of the job at all l. We all have the right to work without fear if some twat getting too close.

wtf? Is this a large company or chain? If it is, report your "section leader" because he's dangerously incompetent and needs retraining, if not busted down a level. His response to this situation practically leaves them wide open to a lawsuit if you go to a doctor and claim that you've been psychologically affected by the incident (anxiety, fear of people touching you, etc.)
As for the "customer", considering he's done this to at least two staff members, he should be banned from the premises and given a trespass notice. If he violates that he can be arrested. I've had people barred for as little as swearing at staff... physically touching a staff member either aggressively or inappropriately would be a swift boot out the door instantly.

I won't take it further unless it happens again I don't think. If somebody who knows me wonders if I was overreacting then others could to? I will avoid the man if he comes in again, there are a few guys where I work who will step in.
