BANKRUPT Boris Becker is set to join I’m A Celebrity.
The ex-Wimbledon champ hopes a £500,000 jungle pay day will help him to avoid financial ruin.
He blew his fortune on failed business ventures and a lavish lifestyle after three Wimbledon tennis titles in the 1980s.
A source close to Becker said: “As everyone now knows, Boris’s financial situation is desperate.
“He needs a way to make a lot of money fast, and has looked to I’m A Celebrity to help him do exactly that.
“TV chiefs know he would be a brilliant signing. But they also know Boris is slightly over a barrel as a result of his dire financial situation.”
Becker paid millions to a Russian model he got pregnant in a London restaurant’s broom cupboard.
Divorce from first wife Barbara cost him another £10million.
Last week we revealed Becker hopes to make £1million selling his silver gilt Wimbledon trophies.
I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV in November.
The source said: “Even if Boris does collect half a million, it isn’t going to make a dent in his debts.
“But it is a step in the right direction and could lead to more lucrative opportunities — which he desperately needs.”
ITV refused to comment on “speculation”.
