Tomorrow I'm auditioning for my first Musical role in 9 to 5 The Musical, so it left me wondering if anyone on TiBB are fans of musicals and if so, which ones are your favourites?

Personally I'm a huge fan of Hamilton, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables and a recent Broadway Musical named Dear Evan Hansen...if you know what that is lol

Billy Elliot is amazing

Billy Elliot, Oliver, Sound of Music, Little Shop of Horrors, Avenue Q, Chicago, Joseph.

I detest RENT though. It turns me into the curmudgeonly old man, yelling at the kids to get off my lawn - and the "kids" in RENT are from nearly two generations before mine!

It's just all the characters are despicable, hateful people. I hate Shelby and her retarded "performances", Mark thinking that making home videos is art, ad everyone's attitude that "oo we're artists, why should we pay for rent?!" and the spoilt attitude of "oo we hate dear old mom and dad .... we live off their money though!" even Angel is a dog killing bastard.

Oh and Mark was filming that homeless woman who called him out on appropiating her struggles, and it didn't prompt any change in him at all...

Doesn't mean the musical is bad though (And Angel is Queen I cried at the death scene)

Regardless of whether or not the songs are good, it's hard to enjoy the story when I wish all the characters were dying haha

Good luck for the audition :amazed:

My favourite is The Book of Mormon. It's the funniest thing I've ever watched (including any film or TV show) my face hurt from laughing so much! Chicago's another favourite.

Wicked is really good, you should watch it if you like musicals.

Wicked is basically "Musical, The Musical" haha, and it's also a proto-Frozen, in a way. Especially if you listen to Defying Gravity and Let It Go side by side!

My favourite musical is Cabaret, the last time I saw it Will Young was the MC and he was brilliant. Chicago is my second favourite with Blood Brothers coming in a close third.

Well done TwentyOT in getting casted.

ooooo Good luck! I love love love musical theatre and wish I had more money to go to more shows. My favourites are Phantom (seen 3 times) Blood Brothers and Chicago. I'm going to see Jersey Boys and hear that is very good so I'm really looking forward to it. When watching the shows I often think how I wish it were me up there performing but I'm a bit old now

I didn't rate the Sound of Music, however, the woman who played the Mother Superior was superb. I don't remember who played Maria now. Have to agree with Chicago, fantastic, I was left wanting more and didn't want it to end
