Saw this on Twitter.

So the guy identifies as being a transwoman, fine. Does that need to be on the missing posters? If the person walked past me in the street, I'd just think of them as a guy. Being a transwoman doesn't change anything, and if someone saw Varhola right after seeing the poster, whether or not they are trans would come into it.
On the other hand, some of the twitter comments say JV ran away from home, rather than simply having gone missing. Maybe JV ran away to start transitioning, so if you see someone who looks like a guy in makeup and a wig it might help them to identify JV.

It’s not relevant imo, you look for the face to recognise

Yeah. How many times do you get people who say they "can't tell" it boys that look feminine or girls who look masculine so the information isn't much of a help at all tbh.
Just the face and the name are the vital pieces of information.

Not relevant in this case. Unless he is likely to be in full makeup and a wig and could actually pass for a girl, which I doubt as not many trans people pass as the sex they are trying to imitate. I expect he looks like the poster, given getting his image out is whats most important
What annoys me is a while back the police were hunting for some very dangerous guy who had raped a few people. And they said they were looking for a woman. This guy looked nothing like a a woman, and eventually the police said they were looking for a woman who 'might be dressed like a man'. Its utter bollocks.

And encouraging people to tear down a poster searching for a missing kid is disgusting.

It's relevance comes down to whether or not he is living as a woman or not, if he hasn't begun his transition at all and looks like he does in the picture then it's not relevant since the point of posters like this is to emphasise his appearance so people know what to look for. If he was living as a woman then it would be necessary since the description provided in the poster would be incomplete and probably not that useful.

Agreed.
its a missing person and a cry for assistance .... not entirely sure what the person on twitter was trying to achieve, but it doesn't seem finding the person is their prime objective

If he doesn't look as he does in the picture, they've failed on all counts.

I think it would be common sense to as any information about their appearance would be helpful, but tearing the posters down over it is disgraceful.
