it’s not though like gaming has evolved so much that titles from like 20+ years ago are basically obsolete now and i suspect the only reason people enjoy them is bc it reminds them of their childhood or w/e

It has evolved yeah, but many go back to games from the 80s/90s because of the simplicity. Obviously there are great modern single player titles, but I don’t find them as engrossing (aside from a few exceptions, Super Mario Odyssey for example is fantastic).
