Scottish income tax changes unveiled

The Scottish government has announced income tax changes that will see higher earners pay more than elsewhere in the UK - and lower earners pay less.

The country's finance secretary, Derek Mackay, announced a new tax band of 21p for those earning more than £24,000.

The higher rate of tax will be increased from 40p to 41p and the top rate from 45p to 46p

I don't see a problem with having more high earners in England.

I don't know if 1p will make a massive difference, especially when you think of all the freebies available that we don't have.

£24,000 is hardly a large annual income. All those nurses visiting food banks earn more than that. Totally ridiculous.

Oh yes, people will be selling up their homes in the thousands and relocating to another country over a 1% tax rise...

To be honest I think 1% tax rise is a good idea, if it earmarked for the NHS or social care.

Nah,enough tax money gets wasted as it is, I'd prefer money be reallocated instead of tax being raised.

Surely having a disparity between England and Scotland will e really bad for our economy? Cos our higher earners will be more squeezed and big business is more likely to move out?
