Often cited as the best Christmas song of all time, do you actually like the song?

I see that it can be very divisive. Let's see what the TiBB consensus is.

Christmas should be a happy time but this song ruins the mood imo

Not the best ever imo but yeah I love it. A lot of nostalgia of past Christmases attached to it since it's one of those classics played every year.

So they’ve had about as much success as Stooshe then

I used to like the excuse to use the words "slut", "bum", "******", and "ringing" without getting told off.

Epic.

A classic, except for yesterday when I heard it play on the same radio station three times in the one day :skull:

I do love it actually, although it's not my favourite.

However, I do find it uncomfortable when straight people scream "YOU CHEAP, LOUSY F*GGOT" at a Christmas do.

I much prefer replacing the f-word with "carrot".

It's okay. It seems to me too much of a drinking song, and about the effects of alcohol to like that much, though, when I think about it, I can appreciate that it is actually about something, and tells a story.

I like the Always On My Mind cover by the Pet Shop Boys, that beat it to Number One, better.

My favourite Christmas song is Do They Know It's Christmas? by Band Aid.

Also I've never understood why the n-word is always censored in songs but f*ggot isn't.

It's almost as if the n-word has historical implications to it or something. I don't like rap music so I don't really know how common it is in songs, but I'm almost certain this is the only song with "******" in it. Incidentally, it's not only used for gay guys:
Alongside its use to refer to gay men in particular, it may also be used as a pejorative term for a "repellent male" [and it] may also be used as a generic insult, for example, "idiot", although more offensive in nature. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/******_(slang))

From the context of the song, it's clear she means he's a "repellent male", rather than gay, matching the definition I posted upthread.

A slurred out song dripping in alcoholism and depression, that people usually only claim is their omg fav Christmas song because they think that makes them "deep and edgy"? "Oh listen he sounds blind drunk and it's about spousal verbal abuse such real Christmas they sure has nailed there".

... No, I don't like it, and I'd be lying if I said I vaguely tolerate it.
