Starts 9th February 2018. Are you going to watch now that Russia as a nation has been banned from the competition? (individual Russian athletes can still apply to enter under the olympic flag)
Eddie.
19-12-2017, 03:47 AM
almost forgot it was that soon! I am gonna watch it, unless they rig it in favour of the competing Russian athletes...
Calderyon
19-12-2017, 05:52 AM
^ Why would they rig it for them?
Eddie.
19-12-2017, 07:37 AM
Maybe because Russia is a big powerhouse in Winter Sports, so them not in it may decrease the main audience, idk tbh...

Japan can win medals i think, with ski jumping maybe :D

If that´s the case they wouldn´t have banned them from the Olympics though.
(If they wanted to rig it for them)
Otherwise i do see what you´re saying.

I think you´ll find that Mexico and Morocco are gonna struggle massively in Winter Olympics. With Moroccans having 3 athletes and Mexico having 2 athletes on the games.

no expectations for them, so they can just do their best if it isn't good enough, bad luck
but it is a wonderful experience for them i think :hee:

Choosing to root Mexico, Morocco and Japan is pretty random though.
No love for your homeland of Netherlands then?

why, that bronze medal was unexpected at skiathlon ladies :hee:
and i still hope for 500m men speed skating Poutala to take that one, at least a medal

Not that much of a surprise, maybe a little one at best. Pärmäkoski is a good skier. It was nice though. Sadly Sweden won that.
I hope Poutala and/or Koskela can do it. But i have my doubts, since they have a history of choking up in the most important games.
Also Finnish Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined has been in a serious down for quite a long while, so that´s not surprising. I don´t think we´ll ever be on that top level again tbh.
And Ahonen is 40 years old, so i wouldn´t expect him to do good. Just sad that the young ones are also crap at this.

Our mixed curling team was an embarrasment, a 1-6 record (wins-losses) and last place in the tournament.
The moguls skiing is so impressive, must wreak havoc on your knees

I do love watching speed skating, there's something mesmerising about it. I'd love to have a go...
The luge bothers me. I saw a bit of the men's runs... they push off, lay down and the camera is positioned in such away that they're suddenly coming at you scrotum first. It's not a good look.

On the women´s side that´s true, there are only 2 candidates for either a World Championship or Olympic Gold, Canada and USA. Finns and the others battle for bronze. On the Mens side, well if they had all of their best NHL players, yes. Otherwise, not necessarily.
Elise Christie absolute disgrace bottling it again

Poutala 4th losing by just a mere 0,03 seconds to the bronze medal winner. So close, but nothing out of the ordinary for Finland.
