I mean, it's just bad. The best that can be said about it is that it's for a good cause, but even then consigning an entire continent to "chimes of doom" is a bit condescending, as is the "no rivers flow/only water is bitter sting of tears" ... how about the biggest river in the world?

The chorus is catchy I guess.

Yeah, when you listen it just sounds like they’re shaming Africans for not being more festive

It's a pretty awful song, great cause as you said but as a song... terrible.

I love the original. Disliked the one's which followed.

The second one is a guilty pleasure of mine :ninja2:

3 and 4 (especially 4 with the awkward lyric changes) are just terrible though. I always liked 1 despite the obvious preachyness and the fact I'm not fond of Bob Geldof in general

No, the ginger Scouser. Eurovision legend, Lily Savage's co-star and David Van Day hater.

Mariah Carey is not my kind of singer anyway, but adding Bieber into the newer version is just flat out offensive.

The line there won't be snow in Africa has always annoyed me

No, she's the one with the ginger curly hair.

She's pretty much known for this...

I mean i like it as a song but as a concept its naive and patronising and no surprise thought up by that arch wanker bob geldof

"And it's a world of dread and fear" - er no its not

"Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears" - mawkish arrant nonsense

"Are the clanging chimes of doom" - i mean, really

"Well tonight thank God it's them
Instead of you" - well that is slightly odd

!And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life" - thast because apart from the top of a montain and the odd time in SA thee is no snow you stupid eejit and there are whole swathes of "Africa" who have a decent standard of living, most cities in fact so terribly patronising again.

"Where nothing ever grows
No rain or rivers flow" - like the Nile?

Just the worst type of misguided handringing liberal claptrap from an era that thought that a few popstars could change the world, they didnt and instead they bought more cars, houses and tried to avoid paying tax.

I like the line 'there's a world outside your window'. I get the criticism of the lyrics though.

I thought this was going to be about the Sainsbury's Christmas advert song when I saw the title. :D That is barely even a song.

Yes it's for charity, and I hope it continues to make money for the cause, but it's an awful hideous repulsive song.
