TELLY host Eamonn Holmes turned down an £800,000 fee to sign up for Celebrity Big Brother.
The offer is one of the biggest in the show’s history.
But we can reveal the star – who got an OBE for his services to broadcasting in the New Year Honours list – told producers: “I don’t need the cash.”
Bosses have tried for years to get him on board as they are convinced he would make great TV.
But Eamonn last night made it clear he will never agree to go into the CBB house.
A show source said: “Eamonn has turned down a number of offers over the years. This one is the biggest so far at £800,000. But no amount of money could tempt him. He’s said it isn’t about the money because he doesn’t need to earn more cash than he already does through his TV projects.
“Eamonn told producers he absolutely loves the show and is a committed viewer, but definitely doesn’t want to be a housemate.”
Eamonn may still feature in the new series as he has told bosses he would be happy to take part in a task.
Our insider added: “Eamonn’s been involved in debating tasks in the past and he’s said he’d do something like that again.”
CBB is back for a new series on Tuesday and kicks off with an all-female line-up said to include Carry On star Amanda Barrie and 80s singer Sinitta.
Others rumoured to be taking part include ex-Corrie star Shobna Gulati, presenter India Willoughby and Made In Chelsea’s Louise Thompson.
Bosses then plan to send in some blokes – with reality hunks Pete Wicks and Jonny Mitchell expected to take part.
