They are selling an all female show then in goes someone who grew up as a man and who hasn't had the experience of growing up as a woman. Kind of disappointed as there are other women who could have been chosen.

In a series the "explores" the female world, I believe it's good to put "that" kind of woman in the house as well. Nothing wrong about that. The fact that some people don't know how to swallow it, shows that it needs to be tackled.
to be fair to her, she seems more feminine to me than half of the bunch in there

She grew up as a female in a male's body. She's female.
... except she has grown up as a woman?

I was not focused on this at all. I didn't like her interview but as others have said she grew up as a woman so I have no issues

I see it as a celebration of her femininity.
Can't beat diversity, women come in all shapes and sizes, not one size fits all.

Can we just remember that nobody is actually celebrating women here?

So either she should have been chosen to be put in with the men on friday, or she shouldn't be allowed on this series at all because she's transexual? Personally I find both of those alternatives kind of disturbing tbh, female empowerment shouldn't be used as an excuse to degrade or exclude others, I'm sure that was never the intent of the the womens lib movement.

Choosing another women for an all female show, rather than someone who chooses to live as a woman is hardly excluding or degrading her.

The show will also have men go in on friday though, so my point was that either she would be put in with the men, which I think would be degrading for her, or she wouldn't be allowed to go on the show at all (even though both men and women will be on it) which would be excluding her.

I don't begrudge her her place. However, there is only one Y chromosome in the house and it's in India Willoughby.

Well they could have included a group who chose their gender.
Women have fought hard for their freedoms and still don't achieve in many areas of life like equal pay. If we are celebrating women let's do that.

**** you seem to have issues. Unfortunatley I fear the producers also have your issues and hope for the females to get uncomfortable sharing a house with HER.
It's 2018 ffs.
Which prison should the person in this story be in?

This just shows how stupid you are. A transexual doesn't choose their gender.

I don't think the fight for equal pay is quite the same as the fight to get onto celebrity big brother. Women are represented, a trans woman is represented, cis women haven't been excluded here. Many people think trans women should be treated as women in society and not excluded and the show is just acknowledging that.

No need to get personal. When you throw around insults you weaken your argument.

How are you a fan of this show? a transgender woman won way back in 2004....obviously nothing's changed to people like yourself.
I'm guessing you call Ofcom ALOT.

Transgender women are women too and while their experiences as women are different from ordinary women they’re still valid.

I never said her experiences aren't valid. I said I was disappointed they chose her over another woman. That's it.

Yes I am male. What has that got to do with you not accepting a transwoman as a woman. Any female-male trans would be welcome in an all male house from my perspective because they are male.

I was actually going to bring this up im sure the op's post would be different and more empathetic if a female to male entered on an all male launch.

It's a very contentious argument, Withano. Plenty of intelligent, high-functioning, compassionate women, while welcoming the idea that people should be able to live how they choose and be happy, cannot accept that a transgender woman can ever be a "real" woman. It's an opinion that is widespread but if the discussion ever turns that way, they are accused of bigotry. As you have demonstrated.

It's fair to say big brother has done exactly what they set out to do. Throw in a group of women, one trans, one lesbian and let's get those ratings.

It doesn't seem a widespread opinion at all. It will die out in 30 odd years or less (in this country). Similar to how homophobia and racism is slowly phasing out when young replaces old. People just don't think this way anymore. It's just a shame the country hasn't grown out of it sooner, because it's comments like the OP which causes very real issues towards the young and the in denial trans people of today.
And that's just the truth of it all. It's bigotry.

It may not be a widespread topic of conversation in your world but it is in mine. And you saying "that's just the truth of it" does not make it true. What shines out clearly in your post for me is your usual blatant ageism. Saying all older people are bigots is like saying all young people are hoodies.

Not all old people are transphobic, and some young people are. That didn't need pointing out. Point still stands, we're moving towards a more tolerant society slowly. (Evidently very ****ing slowly).

We're moving to a society where people with an alternative view are shouted down by the loudest.
