History of Edgic: Edgic, a portmanteau of editing and logic, was a tool devised in the early-mid 2000s used to help predict winners of the US reality TV show Survivor. Each contestant was assigned a rating for each episode they appeared in, and their ratings and edits were analyzed in an effort to predict who the winner would be. If you've recently entered the Survivor subforum, you've probably encountered people arguing about whether or not edgic discussions constitutes spoiler tags, mainly stemming from the fact that Michele, the winner of the spring 2016 season of Survivor, was one of the more obvious winners by edgicians and one of the more surprising winners to non-edgicians.

In terms of edgicing BBUK..... it's pretty pointless alol. Maybe someone else has a different perspective but to me, there's something therapeutic about assigning colored cells to reality TV contestants and using the composite rating to organize my thoughts and feelings and visually represent the series.

How Edgic Works: Each cell has two components - rating and tone. Rating is breaking down what type of content you had in an episode, while tone is breaking down how the viewers are supposed to perceive the content. There are mainly four different ratings and four different tones, and they can be mixed and matched.

Edgic Ratings: UTR ~ you more or less weren't in the episode, and if you were your content was either unmemorable or you were deliberately edited to be under the radar. Think of Sam Evans, Hira, most recently Charlotte, etc.
MOR ~ you're present, but not particularly dynamic. The content and airtime is there, but there is a lacking of personal insight or character development. You're middle of the road. Think of someone like Kieran.
CP ~ you are a complex personality. You're one of the main forces driving the narrative and we are learning and who you are as a person as you are providing your personal insight. Deana Uppal, Aisleyne, Aaron, etc. You can also throw in your obnoxious GAMEPLAYERS in here like Victor and nasty Nick.
OTT ~ over the top. I don't think this needs much explaining, BBUK pretty much rewrote the definition for over the top when it introduced people like Nikki and Charley and Kinga.

Edgic Tone: Neutral ~ we're not supposed to feel a particular way about you. Think like.... Liam or Karly or Laura McAdam.
Positive (P) ~ you're a protagonist and someone who the editors are explicitly telling us to root for. This is actually surprisingly rare due to the format of BBUK. Think of people like Brian Belo, Nadia, Luke A, Brian Dowling (hey they all won). If you're looking for someone who didn't win..... Samanda also work.
Negative (N) ~ we're either supposed to dislike you or love to hate you. Charley, Victor, Bea, Helen ****ing Wood, etc.
Mixed (M) ~ there are both positives and negatives to how you're presented. Due to the nature of BBUK, like 80% of the people end up with mixed tone. Nikki, Aaron, Aisleyne, Freddie, etc.

When doing civilian BB, it's a little easier to do it by weeks since they usually follow a typical 7-day format (possible exceptions being the first and last). The way I structure these isn't by actual whole weeks, and more rather measured of the time between each eviction that airs on HL's, usually Wednesday shows or Saturday shows that include the eviction. In this case, CBB has ranged from 4-8 weeks, with the 30+ day series usually being in the 7-8 week bracket. Sometimes there may be possible exceptions where a live show with an audience is all it takes. Examples would include in CBB15 where there was supposed to be an Alexander/Chloe head-to-head but Jeremy/Ken's removals cancelled this so that first week would technically end at the beginning of Cami Li's queen task. Or in CBB3 or CBB16 there could be a whole live show dedicated to someone just being in there for a few days, thus the week ending at their debut e.g. Jackie Stallone and Paul Burrill respectively.

The previous series below: https://image.prntscr.com/image/E7MdSXf1S1y1JrB1EQePTg.png

And now it's time to do it with CBB21. As this is a January series, it'll most likely be 7-8 weeks but I'm not gonna do it by that way like I had done with CBB20, the first time a thread was used for this. Instead, I'll go daily and in-depth with each housemate, starting with the 8 female housemates in the Day 1 highlights. If you still don't know what edgic means read the quotes listed above.

Amanda - MORP - she was trying to be nice to people like Ann and she was being positive about other people although she wasn't too significant herself
Ann - MORN - she was shown repeatedly complaining about the house exterior and disagreeing with her housemates, which was backed up as being negative by the housemates talking about it, including Amanda and Jess saying they're scared of her. They also had a small problem with her getting a separate bedroom.
Ashley - UTR - she perked up every now and again during the debate part but otherwise she didn't do much.
India - MOR - she got some controversy from people with the weird self-transphobia moment but she wasn't really portrayed positively or negatively otherwise and was just a supporting character.
Jess - MOR - she was somewhat vocal during the episode but she was pretty toneless about it.
Maggie - MORP - Amanda and Jess talked of her positively and thought she was a great woman before she was awarded immunity and she was also a somewhat frequent part of the episode. She was also comforted when self-conscious about how famous she is.
Malika - MOR - she had a DR talking about the housemates and was still a talking part of the episode but she wasn't positive or negative.
Rachel - MOR - She had a somewhat long DR and frequently talked during the task.

Overall a very MOR-based episode but it's to be expected from the first HL show where people are just settling in. Anyway, what's your take on tonight? Anything different you'd put here? Will try to update this daily as the series continues.

Late reply because i didn't see the episode up until now:

Day 2

Amanda - MOR - I can't really remember much that important with her besides her speaking up now and again. Correct me if i'm wrong
Ann - OTTM - She was a heavy kind of presence with housemates repeatedly bringing up how fortright she acts, Rachel complaining about her attitude in the confessional, the fact that the housemates noticed how Ann wasn't dancing. But she also had some positivity with her and India making up with each other after Ann makes an accidentally transphobic comment, or when India and Malika are complaining about her still include how they think she's a nice person, or early on when Jess says in the DR that she's really starting to like her, making her OTTM overall.
Ashley - UTRP - she recounted a funny story at the dining table but there wasn't much otherwise.
India - CPM - She was complaining about Ann while aware that she was whining, and she had an elaborated mindset on things and about her, but she also made up with Ann towards the end of the episode that gives her an M.
Jess - MORP - she was the same as Ashley but a little bit more visible.
Maggie - MOR she spoke up a couple times but she was still pretty toneless.
Malika - MOR - same as Maggie
Rachel - MOR - same as Maggie.

Day 3

Amanda - CPM - The whole highlight show was about her and India's feud, and she made a really offensive comment, but gets an M for repeatedly apologizing and calling it an accident and constantly trying to make up for it.
Ann - UTR - She didn't involve too much in the gender argument besides say about India 'He still won't accept your apology' :umm2:
Ashley - UTR - she didn't do anything of importance
India - CPN - she was on the receiving end of an accidentally offensive misgenderment that made her mood go negative for the whole portion of the day. even if she has the right to be offended it doesn't change the rating because she didn't have any positive or optimistic content.
Jess - UTR - she didn't do anything of importance
Maggie - UTR - she didn't do anything of importance
Malika - UTR - she didn't do anything of importance
Rachel - UTR - she didn't do anything of importance

Day 4

Amanda - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Ann - MORN - she clapped Jonny saying that feminism has gone too far which was negative because of other females looking uncomfortable about it, and she also had a moody DR about how she wanted to help around the house and hated the equality stuff.
Ashley - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
India - CPN - she had this complex negativity about Ginuwine's views on dating a transgender person which was made negative by other housemates complaining about her reaction and it being the crux of the last few minutes.
Jess - UTRP - Jonny said he had a crush on her and him and Daniel admired her, and Andrew had a light-hearted and humorous conversation with her in the kitchen
Maggie - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Malika - MOR - she was very vocal about her issues with India but it wasn't really positive or negative as much as it was her vocalizing an opinion.
Rachel - UTR - she didn't do much of importance

Now this is the end of Week 1 but the males debuted in the last HL show of it. So they won't be included in the concluding chart I'll have up so what I count here can just be counted for Week 2

Andrew - UTRP - had a positive conversation with Jess, weighed in on supporting equality, and had a brief friendly interaction with Ann.
Daniel - MOR - he had a confession about his sick past and had a DR with Jonny but he wasn't really positive or negative.
Ginuwine - MOR - he started the transsexual discussion about him not wanting to date one but he in particular wasn't brought up on it.
John - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
Jonny - MOR - he had a long-winded DR with Daniel
Shane J - MORP - he had a comical entrance of his skirt ripping, he had a positive interaction with Shane L, he made a positive confession about how he came out as a drag queen, and overall he was pretty prominent with it.
Shane L - MORP - he didn't do much of importance but other housemates positively approved of him, and women, Wayne, and Courtney had briefly positive interaction with him.
Wayne - UTR - he didn't do much of importance

I already mentioned in the OP the CBB timeframe goes by live crowd shows since just having them all in 3s/4s would be too short. Therefore CBB17 and CBB19 fill out the current maximum of 8 weeks. I don't mean weeks as in 7 days. It's just a system. I would've just done stuff like Days 1-4 like reece has above but the way i have makes the bars a little shorter.

Day 5 (Week 2)

Amanda - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Andrew - MOR - he had several brief moments throughout but nothing enough to make him positive. his only real positive thing was in his interaction with Ann in the bedroom. he had interactions with Ashley and Daniel but both were neutral conversations
Ann - OTTN - she was acting like a homophobic twat with no positivity and was cited negatively by several housemates who made Jess Impiazzi cry and also got really pissed off at Big Brother about them making the men pregnant.
Ashley - MORP - she reassured India for a couple of minutes early on and was prominent enough for another interaction with Andrew as well.
Ginuwine - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
India - CPM - she had words of encouragement from John, Ashley and Malika and was making amends with Shane J, but she also had this moody view of Maggie not backed up by anything and she's still not completely trusted.
Jess - MOR - she was somewhat vocal throughout the episode including getting emotional by Ann's negativity but she was still a neutral presence.
John - MORP - he was encouraging to India for a small couple of minutes
Jonny - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
Maggie - UTRN - she didn't say or do anything but India repeatedly spoke negatively about her being a follower around, a bad smell, etc. including saying 'at least maggie didn't come in' after her and Shane J were talking things through. Ann also criticized her in particular for laughing at the male pregnancy and that she was disappointed in her.
Malika - MORP - she had conversations with Ginuwine, Andrew, and India whom she reassured about the previous night issues India had.
Rachel - UTR - she didn't do much of importance.
Shane J - CPP - he gave a detailed backstory on what made him emotional back when he was a teenager and had a detailed conversation with Ann about gay rights and a final DR about it as well. he was definitely the most developed and edited the best out of everyone.
Shane L - UTR - he didn't do much of importance.
Wayne - UTR - he didn't do much of importance.

Day 6

Amanda - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Andrew - OTTP - he got in drag with a hugely OTT dress routine of it where he moaned but it was used for positive laughs. Then he came in wearing drag and a majority of the cast enjoyed it. He also tried hashing things out with India and apologizing if he offended her, and also saying how he went in drag to break sexuality stereotypes and having good intentions that were backed up by most of the housemates. He blew up at India when she continued to argue against him but he was seen as justified with the negative air the housemates were making out of her. A highly positive housemate.
Ann - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Ashley - MOR - she talked about who she's blocked on Twitter and she had a conversation with Ginuwine but she wasn't too important otherwise.
Daniel - MOR - he didn't do much of importance but he had several lines relating to Andrew/India that made him escape being UTR.
Ginuwine - MORM - he had this brief positive moment with Ashley including flirting with her, but he had a briefly negative spat with India again over her accusing him of being transphobic again.
India - OTTN - she was repeatedly moody, sulky, and resentful throughout most of the episode and most of the housemates negatively talked about her like this. she also responded negatively to Andrew's apology and was in general extremely solemn in her demeanor. Normally she'd get CPN when she gets like this but in this case it was overblown enough for her to be otherwise.
Jess - UTRP - The 'Lads' briefly talked positively of her being a really nice girl but she wasn't important otherwise.
John - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
Jonny - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
Maggie - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Malika - MOR - she had vocal begrudging problems with India's lack of positivity although wasn't too important herself.
Rachel - MOR - she opened up about wanting to do more with her life which she said to Ann but she wasn't too important otherwise.
Shane J - MORP - he glammed up Andrew and had enthusiastic fun back-and-forths with him about it, although wasn't too important himself.
Shane L - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
Wayne - UTRP - he wasn't important but he was laughing in the diary room about an honest confession he made in the task where the men had to see which of them were the most honest and how people reacted to it, and had background approving reactions to Andrew's drag performance.

Which CBB was 8 weeks? :suspect:

I've already described this almost 5 times now. They're not measured in actual weeks. I just abbreviate them to that to make it easier and it's my system. it's measured by how many live shows with the big crowd + the HL's the day after that feature this crowd since that's how weeks are measured in BBUK. Meaning weeks on CBB would usually end on Wednesday or Saturday highlights to correspond with the Tuesday/Friday eviction. A week may also come at the beginning of a late entrant there for only a few days like Jackie Stallone or Paul Burrill. It's not an actual week, can people focus on what the thread is actually about instead?

but anyway i put CBB17, CBB15 and CBB19 as 8 weeks with this system

And also, just measuring the CBBs in actual weeks of 3/4 for every series would just be stale, so i think it's better to extend it as long as you can so you can see housemate's progression better. BBUK for example has done between 8-13 weeks so it's okay to make CBBs pretty long too since CBB is more or less a condensed version of BBUK and therefore only making it 3/4 full-long weeks does a great disservice to the housemates

Mess at the first evictee not happening until the third edgic block now that there's this big crowd since that's one of my rules. Live big crowds are always sort of a staple milestone with how it happens every couple of days in CBB. So looks like i'll have to extend this to 9 blocks in the chart instead of the maximum 8

Daniel - MOR - he was fairly vocal but unimportant
Ginuwine - MOR - same as Ashley but vice-versa
India - CPM - after she voted for Courtney to win the talent contest, there was a DR by Courtney being happy that India was doing that but there was still skepticism made, along with a complex diary room by India about how she thinks that backstabbing is going to happen.
Jess - UTR - she didn't do much of importance.

Andrew - OTTP - he reacted in an over-the-top manner to winning his secret task and was hugely cheerful about it, and had highly humorous and egregiously positive laughs with Ann and Courtney in a externally amusing manner.
Ann - MORP - she had make-up done which was made positive by Andrew and Big Brother's flirtatious reactions to it along with Ann's positive nature about it.
Ashley - MORP - her stuff with Ginuwine was used for more positive moments this time, with more housemates making jest of it like Jess and others.
Daniel - MOR - he was fairly vocal but unimportant
Ginuwine - MORP - he revealed his real name and had flirting with Ashley that was both enthusiastically edited in with how the housemates were about it, and her and Andrew jumped to his defense in the smoking area for why India had nominated him as well.
India - CPN - various housemates were still speculating about her, how she would take being nominated, the bravery to be honest in why to nominate her said by Malika, she was definitely still fairly important.
Jess - UTRP - she didn't do too much but she was speculating about Ashley and Ginuwine while drunk and comparing them to animals which was played for comedic effect.
John - MOR - he had a brief disagreement with Rachel but otherwise not too important.
Jonny - MOR - he was a little more vocal this time with the fact he got nominated and they talked about it but he was still unimportant.
Maggie - UTR - she didn't do much of importance
Malika - MOR - she had a secret task and was vocal every now and again but not important.
Rachel - MORN - she argued with John briefly and Wayne picked apart problems with her always asking too many questions and talking about it to her for a fairly long amount of time while she admitted to these flaws, and she also nominated Jonny which she viewed as being a negative action to do.
Shane J - CPP - he was opening up about a threesome he had with two women and other insightful stories and even though his interactions with Andrew were positive, he was more vocal and thoughtful in thinking about it and was a stand-out character again in how articulate he was being.
Shane L - UTR - he didn't do much of importance
Wayne - UTRN - his mood was going a little sour with Rachel in how he had these problems deployed on her, but otherwise wasn't important

Malika - UTR - she didn't do anything of importance.
Rachel - OTTN - she freaked out over margarine that was exaggerated a little by Marcus, she had over-the-top minor disagreements with Ann, Andrew and Wayne that were done in comical ways, Wayne complained about her to Shane J and Andrew, and the three all went on a tangent about how a little hard she can be to be around.
Shane J - OTTP - see Andrew.
Shane L - UTR - he didn't do much of importance besides one DR.
Wayne - MORM - he had a positive DR about appreciating being in the lads along with a couple of minor moments of adoration by them but his conflict with Rachel is starting to build up.

Day 14

Amanda - MORM - she was fairly vocal during the episode, consoling Ann and Rachel when they predicted they'd be nommed during and after it happened, and moments of very extroverted bonding with Ann of feeding her biscuits and having a great time with Wayne, though her attending to Ann looks slightly off given Ann's somewhat negative reputation.

Andrew - CPN - he evaluated how/why he wanted to stay and wanting to win immunity, including a DR about it, but after they revealed him talking about nominations Ann was wary of him and the other lads in the diary room for it and he also had an idea people were bitching about him not backed up by anything.
Ann - CPN - she had a grumpy beginning of Big Brother waking her up early and why she was annoyed by it, along with her diary room of being skeptical of the nominations rule breaking, and an end-footage of Andrew talking negatively of her.
Ashley - MOR - her Ginuwine stuff was fairly vocal but unimportant.

Ashley - MOR - her Ginuwine stuff was fairly vocal but unimportant.
Daniel - MOR - he was fairly vocal but unimportant.

There wasn't a final hl's show so are you going to post the final table?

Yeah i am, because last night's HL technically count as the one week since the final still counts as a second show, rounding things off to eight weeks.

And with that said here's the final results

https://i.imgur.com/vvvfvgY.png

Fun Facts:

-This series has had the most amount of UTRPs of any series with 8 overall
-This series took the longest amount of CBB weeks to get a first evictee, India taking up to three live shows.
-Malika is officially the most toneless housemate ever, not counting ones who got evicted early. She lasted all the way to the near-end of the series, and only ever got one tone rating of MORP. Shaun Williamson previously held the record for being UTR the whole way through with one UTRP at the beginning, but he had 5 toneless ratings in a row whereas Malika had 6 in a row so she's the new champ of tonelessness.
-The first evictee was a CPN overall while the winner was a CPP.
-This is the only time that the last week only has one HL show due to the final not having any but still being a show.
