Theo Walcott: Everton sign forward from Arsenal

Everton have completed the signing of Theo Walcott from Arsenal in a deal worth more than £20m on a three-and-a-half year contract.

Walcott, 28, becomes Sam Allardyce's second signing of the January transfer window following the £27m paid for striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas.

The move brings to an end Walcott's 12-year stay at Arsenal, where he scored 108 goals in 397 appearances.

"There's something about this move I've just felt good about," he said.

Walcott's former club Southampton were also interested in a deal.

But Walcott, who has not started a league game for Arsenal this season, believes Allardyce can reignite his career.

"It felt like it was time for me to move on [from Arsenal]," he said.

"It was sad but it's exciting at the same time and I want to reignite my career and push Everton to win things as they have done before.

"The manager is very hungry and it's just what I need. I've had a couple of chats with him and straightaway I felt that hunger and that desire that he wanted from me."

In a statement, Arsenal said: "We all thank Theo for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted he did not want Walcott to leave but said he could not guarantee the England international game time and admitted that was a "sensitive subject" in a World Cup year.

Walcott, who has 47 England caps, has not featured for his country since the friendly against Spain in November 2016.

Arsenal plan to reinvest the funds, with concrete interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bordeaux forward Malcom.

They are also hopeful of signing Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a deal that would involve Alexis Sanchez going the other way.

Its time he moved on. He is the symbol of Wengers last 12 years at Arsenal, lots of promise but ultimately always not quite good enough. Now he's out the club then maybe we can start to look backwards at this current era and forward to new horizons. Strangely I think he will thrive at Everton. At Arsenal - like so many at Arsenal - he was never asked to play his natural game, so good luck to him and I hope it works out.

Gotta love how when United are about to sign someone, suddenly the media hits us with the Transfer Fee,Signing On Fee,Agent Fee, Whole Contract Value and The Carbon Footprint of the paperwork all as the Price of Signing.

What is? You really think he's being paid 500k a week and is on par with Messi? It's Pogba all over again

Either way, We are about to Swap Mikhi's contract for Alexis ****ing Sanchez and Ibra's contract comes off the books next year. There's no transfer fee and United has one of the lowest Wage to Revenue ratios in England. It's the same as Liverpool or Arsenal paying someone 150-220k a week after signing th for £40m or so.

It's just funny that no one gave a damn when City wanted to sign him for £60m in the summer.

Wenger said he'd never sell to Man U again after the Van Persie debacle. F&&king lying toad.

Anyway its a lot of money and, there is no doubt, he will make them better but Man U still wont be competing with City. He wont win anything at Man u that he hasn't already won with Arsenal.

"Van Dijk - £75m + 180K a week (Pre tax) on 5 year contract = £75m + 47m = £122m overall
Sanchez = £0 + £10m signing on fee, £15m to agent, £350k a week wages on a 4.5 year contract = 25m + 82m = £107m overall"

And that's without considering the Agent or Signing on Fee for Van Djik. Liverpool fans can miss me with any chat. Bye guys.

Latest reports say a 15 million bid from Chelsea for Giroud has been accepted by Arsenal. Good idea to let Diego Costa go then.

Giroud is another who never was allowed to play his natural game at Arsenal. I dont think Chelsea fans are going to fall in love with him but at least they'll get the ball into the box for him much quicker and better than we ever did.

I'm so confused by this story that I can't work out who's getting swindled the most. Chelsea seem to be doing the best as they aren't selling a player and getting Giroud, who's a proven PL scorer, but Dortmund are losing their best player and just getting a loan replacement of Batshuayi? Who's wildly inconsistent.

Idek if Aubameyang is even worth this any more :joker: I'd certainly rather we signed a defender/goalkeeper/CM anyway (since Cech/Elneny/Xhaka aren't good enough to stop goals)

Giroud is very underrated. 18m is a steal in this market.

Doing the job that Xhaka was bought to do. Xhaka = Waste of money.

Cant wait for AUbameyang to sign tBH so that both Welbeck and Iwobi go a bit further down the pecking order. Particularly Iwobi. He's playing too many games when he clearly isnt in good form

Makes me laugh Arsenal fans on twitter think they gonna win the title next season cause they signed Aubameyang.

1) There s a reason Dortmund wanted rid and Arsenal fans moaned about the attitude of the players they have now so it bemuses me they want a player with one of the worst attitudes in the game.

2) There are no point buying players who need a different system to what Wenger players
