Having a boob-job at 14 is illegal in this country. You have to be 18 years old at least!! But in some other countries, this does happen and anybody from Great Britain can jump on an aeroplane and go to another country and have it done.

There is a story today on L.K Today(Lorraine Kelly-GMTV)

Where a 14 year old girl is so unhappy with the size of her boobs, that she wants a boob job as soon as possible. Even though she has to wait till 18, unless she wants to go abroad?

Not the best idea in my opinion or many others either.

You keep growing until 21 years old and to even think of doing this at such a young age, is just silly and dangerous.

This debate is NOT just about a "boob job" for someone the age of "18" or below, it is about ANY sort of operation to improve your looks at such a young age.

anyway, this is the article about Gemma 14 years of age:puzzled:

A boob job is a serious procedureTeen boob jobs

14 year old Gemma says she will go under the knife when she turns 18 - let us know what you think here
Shocking figures have revealed that two thirds of teenage girls would rather be a glamour model than a teacher or nurse.

Boob jobs cannot be performed in this country until you're 18 years old, but some teenagers it seems do not want to wait that long.

Gemma Nelling is just fourteen, but already she's dreaming of going under the knife. She says she's been thinking of nothing else since she was ten. And Gemma doesn't just want bigger breasts - she wants them to look like they're fake too.

Gemma's mum has told her daughter that she doesn't want her to have the surgery, but Gemma insists as soon as she is 18 she will go under the knife.

Let us know your thoughts on this story by joining in the discussion on our message board or by emailing us using the form below.

Do you think this is too much too young or do you think that 18 is a reasonable age to make such a decision?

I think it is sad that the girl you talk of want to go down that route. I just don't get it. I just hope that by the time she is 18 she will have grown out of that phase.

I guess it doesn't help when a (biggish name) celebrity has it done and it gets pastered all over the tabloids. Lacey Turner from Eastenders got it done recently, and she must be only 18 or so.

How does this girl (sorry I don't watch Lorraine :xyxwave:) plan to pay for it? I remember reading a while back about whether breast enlargements should be allowed on the NHS or not, if it's causing 'depression' in the patient. Not sure how that would apply to an 18 year old.

Her mother wasn't happy for her 14 year old daughter to have this boob-job done Mark.

But Gemma was adamant on LK Today that she wanted it and intends to have it done when she is (18)

Dr (Hilary) was on the programme and tried to talk her out of it, but we all know that when a 14 year old girl with an idea in her head like, "Having a Boob-job", is very hard to change:eureka:

Her mother said that she is NOT going to pay for the operation, so her daughter Gemma will have to work and save up and pay for it herself.

I hope she changes her mind!

She said she wants to be a singer, which was one of her reasons for having the operation done.

Can she sing?

I really admire her mother for standing her ground and saying she will not pay for it, however its likely that by the time this girl reaches 18 she will have forgotten all about it and moved onto something different to obsess about.

I am not saying that at 14 young people dont know their own minds because they very much do, but it is the mind of here and now not the more mature mind of 18 that has currently been talking!

14. That's just shocking. Every girl has certain insecurities with their bodies, but wanting a boob job at that age it just not right.

I don't think anyone should be allowed to have any kind of plastic surgery during their teenage years. I'd hate to go through all of that pain and emotion.

She wants to be a singer, so she needs to get her boobs done?! Huh - go figure. Just shows that image is more important than talent these days. But that's a separate issue.

14 is way too young. She hasn't finished developing yet anyway!

i never saw the girl in question but i think 14 is way too young, i think 18 is still too young. you grow until your early 20ies, i could understand waiting till your late 20irs but 14 is like Sophie said 'shocking'

I think at this age it is where the celeb influences come in and seeing celebs in the paper and magazines has a big effect on children of this age. I think waiting til atleast 18 would be the right choice and its upto her parents to convince her that she doesn't need to look like other people at this stage in her life. If she feels the same at 18 years old then they need to give it some serious consideration. Showing her some plastic surgery which has gone wrong and making her fully understand that it sometimes does go wrong and she could be worse off that she is already etc.

Gemma's mother was in despair of her.

But as she is only 14 she might change her mind:thumbs:

All said and done though I wouldnt have allowed my 14 year old to go on national TV and talk about wanting a boob job, it just fuels her desire really :bouncy:

If she's unhappy and wants them done then i don't see a problem with it.

I hated the size of my ears for years so i got them pinned back a few years ago, i felt a lot better once i got them pinned back. Boobs and ears - different body parts obviously but both make people insecure about themselves.

If at 18 she is still unhappy then she should go for it.

But the thing is Legend, that she hasn't finished developing at 14 anyway. In a couple of years, they might get bigger naturally.

I agree with GlitterEyes - this is the influence of celebrities who seem to have their boobs enlarged as routinely as cleaning their teeth.

yeah I saw that last night, it should be made illegal throughout europe and the world to have cosmetic surgery unless your 18+. Heck you are still going through puberty until 21

I can understand where the girls are coming from in a way tho, they want to look pretty but looks arent everything these days (which is good) :hello:

I'm sick to the back teeth of stories like this. I say if she wants them, and is stupid enough to be serious, then let her have them and she can face the consequences over the years.

Stupid silly little girls should be responsible for their own actions. Especially if they are silly and stupid enough to think they're right.

 @ GiRTh's post

It's far too young to be getting that operation, but she's said she'll get it when she's 18 which at least shows she's not reckless and determined to get them immediately, I don't think she's a spoiled brat, I think she must be extremely insecure and her family should be supporting her decision, though not financially.

I see what you're saying. My comments are more aimed at silly little girls who don't take responsibility for their actions. You know the type I mean.
